HDMM's CC-01 Jeep Wrangler

Well, this is my first CC-01 "build" or uh...."rebuild". The CC-01 I started out with was sort of a mess of a Unimog, hacked up chassis, mismatched parts and used and abused. I cant seem to find pics of it before I started the project, but it is what it is. Basically I had to disassemble to entire thing and throw a bunch of stuff away and start wit ha brand new chassis tub. During the tear down I found that the previous owner built this thing and ran the heck out of it without installing ball bearings.....(FAIL). There was so much wear in the rear end housing that I had to replace that as well.

So now that the chassis has been rebuilt, gears cleaned, greased and full bearings installed, shocks rebuilt, I started on the GPM ugrades. In the pics you can see that I used the GPM 4-link kit (truck already came with the GPM rear shock axle mounts), GPM bottom gear cover, c-hubs, steering knuckles, steering bellcrank kit, steering links kit, servo mount. It took me a little bit to figure out the steering setup and get it to work right, but now that it's done, I have ZERO slop in the steering. I also installed a Junfac steel drive shaft in the rear.

I am using a RC4WD 55t motor, but I am finding it is still too fast for my liking (I'm my other CC-01 rig) so I am going to try a 80t. 8)

Picked up a set of "take off" RC4WD 1.55" Mud Thrasher tires and steel wheels for this build.

And a Tamiya Jeep Wrangler body from RPP. "thumbsup"

Body mocked up on the chassis, still wiating on some misc parts and a parts tree from RCMart with the Wrangler body mounts I need.

Thanks, I'm pretty stoked about it. Hopefully the paint job will come out good, still trying to figure out what color I want to paint it.

Had some time to do a little testing this weekend, I was originally running a rc4wd 55t motor with a Tamiya TBLE-02s ESC that came with the rig, but I found it's still a little too fast for some areas. I also found that the rig would simply stall out trying to climb anything major. I figured that was probably more the esc than anything. I swapped in a rc4wd 80t motor and a Axial AE-5 and did some runs. I am also using a Reedy Wolfpack 4000mah 35c lipo that is oval shaped like a nimh pack so that it will fit into the chassis. Now the rig has some wheel speed but also enough low end power to climb obstacles. I know that running a GRU is what most people do, infact one of my CC-01's came with one, but I removed it. I wanted to be able to run a fullsize pack for weight and to not have to cut up the chassis. I think this new combo I have will work pretty good for this rig, some more testing this coming weekend at the RRW Krawlzone will hopefully confirm.

I am using an RC4WD 80tmotor also. I am using a Hobbywing 1060 esc and a 3s lipo. Plenty of power, speed is about right. I like that jeep body. I am looking for another body for my chassis, and that looks perfect.

Yeah, the 1060 is a great little esc, im running one of those in my Tamiya M1025 Hummer. For the crawling and trails we do I really needed a drag brake and with the AE-5 set at 100% it's perfect for this rig, it let's it roll just enough when crawling to let it come down a obsticle nice and easy. I love this Jeep body too, it's the first one I've owned.
