Headphone listeners

If you buy anything from Bose, you're getting multiple infractions.

Looks like i am going to lose my star then.

I had to have something. It was between the shure 115's and the bose ie2's.
I know they are overpriced for what you get but i ended up with the bose. They have average sound but are very comfortable and take up no room at all.

A little eq tweaking goes a long way with them.

sorry.

Yall are going to hate me then.

Been using these Earpolution headphones for a couple of months now. I like them... the sound better than my 7yr old 2.1 setup. I guess it helps that my laptop has a decent sound card in it though.

Nice. How you liking those 770s?

Ever roll tubes?

May not be much, but I'd say that it's more than many will ever know.

I love the 770's. One of the reasons I haven't tried other headphones is because I am too happy with these...even though I know there is much better.

As far as tubes...the only ones I have used are the ones that came with the amp and the matched new old stock Sylvania Golds. The Golds made a HUGE difference...I couldn't believe it. And when I added the D/A, that was a pretty major difference again. As good as my setup sounds to me...I can't imagine what a truly high end system must sound like.

Just getting into the whole headphone sickness..

Went out and got a pair of the Monster Turbines...Well constructed but waaaay too much bass. Returned them.

Next set was the Bose IE2's....garbage, literally pulled them out of the package, listened to them for 30 seconds and put them right back in the package...I will never buy anything Bose again. Fitment was horrid.

3rd set I got were the Denon AH-C560R's. So far Im completely happy.
When I got them I popped them in for about 5 minutes and they sounded crisp and clear. Went to Http://www.BurnInWave.com and loaded up all the frequencies and burned them in for about 3 days straight. Couldnt be happier.

Thinkin about picking up a electric avenue pa2v2 portable amp to go with them....

Good posts.

Monster to Bose to Denon. Must have been funny.

Anyone still buy music? I just got a Dead Can Dance, Towards The Within SACD, and Herbie Hancock Headhunters and Miles Davis' Bitches Brew on vinyl.

Sweet, and pretty out there music.

I just got Blues Brothers on vinyl for 50 cents....also picked up Pantera Cowboys from Hell: Demos on vinyl.....

Actually I don't yet, but I will.

Seems to do the job, and it's cheap.

looks pretty sweet....don't think I would want to clean that many at a time though....might hafta pick it up anyways....

Man I've been buying way too many headphones. I had a pair of Grado SR80s about two years ago, got sick of their terrible construction, so I sold them for some Sony MDR V6 headphones. Earlier this year, I ended up selling those to get some Grado SR80i's. I also bought the Etymotic ER6i, and then sold those for Panasonic HJE900's, and then sold those for Westone UM3x's, all within a few months of each other. A few weeks ago I sold the Westones and bought the Sennheiser HD25-1 ii and the Beyerdynamic DT990 and the AKG K240 MK2. I'm selling the Beyerdynamics right now and am probably going to buy some Meelectronics M6 headphones for running.

I'm going to stop with the headphones though because it kinda got out of hand this year...

Oh, and I just bought some $20 Meelectronics M6's. I wanted something to wear in the rain or when I'm running.

Don't want to get my Sennheiser HD 25-1 II's wet.

Nice dude. From what I know about Beyer's, don't buy any of em unless it's the 600 ohm version, and that goes for the whole line up, the 770, 880 and 990. As long as they can be properly amped. I've read over and over and over again it's the best of the bunch. The T1 is on my wish/want/will probably get list.

But, I've got to remain focused and choose an amp already.

I read that the 250 ohm version wasn't too bad so I wanted to try it out.

I also thought that my Onkyo receiver would properly amp the headphones but there's isn't much bass impact from the headphones. That's the main reason I'm selling the headphones. I want to get back into R/C and I don't want to spend the extra money on an amp right now. At some point down the line I may end up with a Fiio E7/E9 combo and a DT990 600 ohm.

The AKG's I have sound great out of my iPhone and have crazy amounts of bass (I'm a basshead) so I'm keeping those instead of the beyers.

BTW, how are you liking the HD800? I do like those but I'd probably go for the Tesla T1 if I was spending that much, but I haven't heard either of them. What are you amping the HD800 with? I saw you were about to buy the Woo stuff.

BTW, owning both the T1 and the HD800 at the same time?

What's next, the Ultrasone Edition 10?:lmao:"thumbsup"

Nah, likely just the Beyer T1 and the Audeze LCD-2.

I listen to the Senn HD800 either straight from a 5th gen iPod (off the AC grid!), or from an iMac with a USB connected Griffin Powerwave class T (Tripath technology) amp and have fun. I know it's far from what the HD800 can do, but it still sounds quite good. I had a Headroom Supreme, but killed it plugging in a home made battery pack backwards... so stupid. :x

I could hook up my Sony SACD player to a tube pre amp I built to this Griffin, but meh. And I could hook up my VPI record player to a Rega phono stage to the tube pre amp, but meh. Or buy a Toslink cable and put it between the iMac and a Theta Cobalt DAC, to the tube pre amp, to the Griffin amp, but meh...

I'm just getting reaquainted with serious listener mode. I'm all in the zone, having fun, the night slips away, it gets later than I realize and then it's too freakin late and I have to go to bed. It's amazing how time flies when you're having fun.

Yeah, it's really easy to lose track of time when listening. I'm tempted to buy the Fiio E7/E9, but at the same time, R/C and real cars also take up a lot of my money, so I think I'll just hold off on an amp for now.

Well...just got back from the local audio guy. Grabbed a pair of Grado SR325's. I spent about 3 hours trying different headphones starting at the bottom of the Grado ladder and working my way up to the GS-1000 (heavenly), tried the ATK-701 (nice, but not as nice as the Grados) and a pair of Etymotic ER4's which really surprised me considering they look and feel like something you could buy at Walmart for $1.99. It came down to budget, or lack of one, and I was torn between the Grado SR-225 and SR-325 and the Etymotics. While the Etymotics I thought were fantastic...they just didn't have that special musical quality the Grados had. I was a tough choice too between the two Grado models but in the end the 325's just had a fuller sound to them. So all in all I am pretty happy with my move up the audio ladder. Now if I can just get lucky enough to put on a pair of pants and find $1000 in the pocket...I'll be lusting after those GS-1000's for a very LONG time.

Woo hoo! Congrats, and sorry about your wallet.

I enjoyed my low on the ladder SR-60s for many years, like 15 years actually. From what I understand some people prefer the 225i more than the 325i, as it just comes down to personal preference. I kinda come from the if it costs more it's better camp, so good job on the 325i choice.

Burn them suckers in!
