hi guys im in the need of some advice im building a late 80s dakar style truck in 1/10 scale and its going to be quiet heavy 2x cell lipos /summit trans 2.2 rims and 5.5inch rock crusher tires and 3 spares on the rear steel cage and chassis and fiberglass panels and cab, and revo diffs and steering knuckles in custom steel housings. So my question would be can any one recommend a budget friendly motor and esc brushed or brushless setups and i would like to use a 1/5, 1/4 jumbo size servo for steering so any help or advise would be great."thumbsup"

Might be a candidate for a Hobbywing QuicRun WP880 brushed ESC (capable of handling 4S, has an onboard 4A BEC), with a Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster Sport 550 27t brushed motor. Get the cheap Hobbywing LED ESC programmer card to adjust the parameters.

Re: help needed heavy rig 1/4 servo motor/esc questions

thanks. can anyone tell me what would be needed to use a 1/4 scale servo with say revo/summit electronics

Need the specifications on the servo. If you are using the EVX-2 ESC, you'll likely want to install an external BEC.

thanks for the reply no servo or any other electronics bought yet for it but I've never had any luck with 1/10 servos lasting on my crawlers so now that i have the room for a larger one it should do the trick for this application

thanks for the suggestion but there a little outa my price range. id be hoping to get a servo for around 50 dollers

What do you consider as heavy? I'm thinking you might have a hard time finding a servo with allot of torque for cheap. There are some cheap servos that claim high torque, but when you use one that is more truthful about there numbers the difference is very apparent.
