Hera revisited

ummm, yeah!
princess-leia-episode-VII1.jpg

Ran into a problem with the rear steer servo/panhard mounts so currently running servo on axle.
My Dinky case needs some serious hollowing out to clearance the Super Shafty 40t spur.
Tried a few different shock lengths... may not be done with that bit yet.
But other than that...

Looks like a 1:1 car that is worth $500 with a set of $2000 wheels and tires on it. lol just cause the chassis is rusty looking.

She'll get powdercoated once I figure out a few more things... when all the welding is done and I know what color!
Thinking of going with the OG color scheme and powdercoating the chassis gunmetal.

"thumbsup"

Another cheaper optoin I have found recently is header or engine paint. Seems alot tougher than normal paint and only takes a few bakes in the oven. Time will tell if it holds up good. Can of the paint was only $9.

...

I'm finally back at it.
Reinforced both 3d printed panhard trusses today (really wish I hadn't bought those, gonna make some soon), got all new links cut for the rear and soldered up the MMP/Pro4 3000HD.

I hope to have her rtr for King Of The GURU's in 2 weeks... she won't be pretty or have all the scale points...

YYesterday i sent the GR7 to my buddy Bronc4now to hollow out to make room for the larger spur gear after spending an hour and a couple Dremal grinding stones getting no where, tested the Pro4 3000HD & MMP and ordered 2 new steering servos.

Nice build thread, how does the rig look now?

Disassembled

Hera's first run was at King Of The Guru's.
I toasted the brand new Pro4 HD by running it on 4s (listening to manufacturer specs, not the internet, next time) and she was struggling on steep climbs.

But, the geometry was all wrong.
I was assembling her with the XRmod axles and the JCAD XRmod panhard style truss.
The panhard link didn't hold up at all so I cut a thin bit of metal to try and strengthen it but it was still no good... So, the day before driving 8 hours to the comp, I swapped her back to AR60's and just ran her.
She had no flex, the links were the wrong length and the shocks too short but it was run her as is or not at all.

She's been torn down ever since... I'll get her back together at some point but this year I'm running a different C3 rig.
