JRH, i was out testing the C.C. with the mamba 25 , the 2 454 motors, standard servo and spektrum receiver,and was experiencing front motor stall at times and loss of signal at times, is it possible that the 2 motors and that 1 servo are drawing to much power and shutting the receiver down?
 
i tried a 6 cell 2/3 1400 elite pack, and then i just mounted a 3600mah sub c pack and it still did it, i am also taking apart the front diff, as that one has a 13t pinion and i think it's binding in there.
 
John, thanks for your time and advice:), but upon dissasembly of the diff and inspection, i have one gear with a chipped tooth, and an extra 14t pinion roling around in there:shock::roll:, i guess trying out different pinions means one at a time:lol:, i have no idea how i left that one in there:roll:, thank god i hadn't replaced the aluminum gears yet, now i did and it's working fine, i guess that the extra pinion got jammed at some point, chipped the tooth off and made the front motor bind adn shut the mamba down.

I'm building a 1.9 scaler and looking for a motor. I want some good wheel speed but also control at low speeds. First thought in my head was the cobalt 7T. I started searching on your site and noticed you have a speed outrunner. How would the Scorpion HK-2221-06 compare to the cobalt 7T? I'm running a Mamba 25 on 2 and 3 cell lipos. Thanks in advance!

NOTE: I'm running R2d trans and axial axles if it matters
 
You won't have as much low speed control with the outrunner, but it would work pretty well. The 7t Cobalt would work well, but I also am working on a smaller motor that may be perfect for 1.9 rigs.

Thanks JRH. I think I'll stick with my first thought, the cobalt 7T. Can we get any insight on the new motor?
 
How do your HHH motors compare to the integy V11 motors? Also would a 45T on 7 cell elites (from you) give good wheel speed but not overtax the batts, or should i just get another 55T? Thanks for your help
 
John, i have one more question, can the mamba 25 and two 454 on my c.c. work with the 3s 1800mah excaliber? will the esc not fry, or can the pack even handle the motors and esc?

john from what i gather you are the guy to ask this to. when i got out of the hobby several tears ago electric was a joke unless you were doing cars on or off road only.so you see how long it's been. went to crawlapalooza last sat. was amazed at what these crawlers were doing.

1st--do you have to run brushless to get the braking that those guys were getting or is it just the speed control?

2nd--is running brushless one guy said he was at 11+ volts the way to go? lipo batts etc?

3rd--how are they rating brushless? the higher the i believe it's the KVA rating the more torque less top end or the other way around?

sorry for all the questions still trying to figure out this brushless versus brushed and NIMH versus LIPO

The HHH (TorqueMaster) motors have better magnets, a much better armature, and an endbell with better alignment. A 45t with 7 cell 2/3a would be just fine, not too taxing on the motor at all.

The braking is a function of the ESC and motor strength. Stronger magnets give better braking, and ESCs with drag bakes give down hill decent control. Brushed motors like my TorqueMaster or Cobalt Puller have strong magnets.

I like three cell lipo personally. It is very good for power in a small pack. Lipo offers longer runtime and more voltage in the same space as NIMH, and it is lighter too.

Motors are rated by the voltage constant, KV. It is the RPM per volt applied, generally measured with no load. A particular motor can be wound with two different speeds, and each motor will have the same power- but the power will be produced at a different voltage. A 2500KV motor will need 10 volts to perform as a 5000kv motor would on 5 volts.

Most crawlers run a motor that is around 1000 to 2000kv.
 
Hey John. ? about tekin fxr/45t. Is there a setting on the tekin that gets the 45t out of the gate quicker. It wants to spool up a little to much for my taste or is this just a spool up combo? Thanks
