High gear ratio in the axles??

I moved the rear shocks outward on the axle and already see the benefit. Will try the fronts too but it may rub against the wheels at full turn. Anyone done this?

I only did the rears on mine, the fronts will rub as you said. Rear swaybar or move the rear upper links up and forward will help a lot too. Check out Pete959 two or is it three different truck build threads here in Ascender section. Codyboy and I have done swaybars and now the rear upper link relocation with outboarded rear shocks. :)

I rarely feel like the torque twist on the Ascender holds me back and when it does it's only on extreme inclines. I bought a sway bar to install, but decided against it because I just don't see the need. Funny thing is I've seen my Ascender climb things an SCX10 II couldn't. I guess the torque twist isn't that big of a deal. They're both great trucks and they both have flaws.

I do wish Vaterra would so something to combat the torque twist, but it appears that they've given up on the Ascender ever since they got rid of Rich.

Thread necro to say I wish I could OD/UD my front and rear axles. The truck just isn't quite competitive without that, given I can't use a DIG in C2 (local comp rules for this class). The TRX-4 axles being unlockable are legal and the scx10 guys have slower rear axles with overdriven fronts and under-driven rears, so on tight courses I'm left accumulating points with extra reversing.

Can it be done using the transmission? I don't need to free-wheel the rears like a mid-dig setting but I'd sure love to be able to walk it across ledges and around switch-backs!

Photobucket lost the pics in the thread but this is the overdrive option you have using stock transmission. It’s a big overdrive spread but will be good for comps. Plus shift on the fly so you use it when needed and that’s it.

Ben

Thanks Ben, I did see that but the lack of pictures increase my difficulty of comprehension. I'll take another look at it, thanks.

(photobucket tarnished the wealth of content from the internet's Forum Years, to be sure)

Edit - I tapped on the Pb images and they loaded in separate tabs. Awesome! I'll email the guy and ask if he still has them, I'm keen. Thanks
