Have you thought about using a cantilevered shock kit off eBay for the rear shocks? I have one on the way to see if I could get shocks to fit under the drop bed of a carisma brat body on an scx10iii chassis but the kit is made to fit scx10ii which is quite similar to the element chassis.

While waiting for the kit to show up, I made some shock towers to tilt the tops of the shocks forward and down comp style and I think that will actually get me the clearance I need but your body seems even tighter than the BRAT.
 
The fj45 is very pinched and dove trailed compared to the coyote body that's on it now.
My son's birthday brat project is a charisma body but on a og scx10.

I'll have to look into a cantilever setup if I can't make body placement work without it.
 
Yeah, I hadn't given much thought to the dovetail issue.

I think your son's Brat project is where I learned such a thing exists, so thanks for that! This one is for my wife who is a weird fan of utes (or crucks as we called them when I was a kid).

I have a soft spot for weird rigs, would love to build a Smyth performance jeep WJ ute with 1 tons and 40" tires. Smyth performance makes the kit to convert VW Jettas and dodge chargers in to Utes as well.
 
After thinking about shocks on the mullet and test fitting the FJ body on my sleeper ascent project. I'm going to get a set of dravtech style shocks to help clear the rear fenders. The rod end mounting should help get some space back.

On another note I won a merchant metal fab element bushido leaf conversion kit. I'll have to look into what I'll need to use it to covert the SE trail truck over to leafs since the wheelbase different is 11.8" to 12.8. but should be able to swap the front no problem and need to finish paint for the power wagon look on the SE.
 


Took all my boys out while my GF did a girls only party with a family friend.

Met an local OG crawler guy today, I've been talking. Nice guy and some cool rigs.

Birthday brat stripped the plastic servo horn, so that will get replaced. a shock shaft unscrewed from the rod end.

I only drove the SE trail truck did well with the vanquish geolanders and injora green silicones.

The ifs mullet did great again with the tusks. Need to swap out the single stage foams tho. Going to see how well the vanquish dual stage foams fit.
 
I got my merchant metal fab bushido leaf kit today, super nice kit, but my plans for the kit have changed. I'm going to swap out the SE axles out of the element. Going to swap them in to the barrage along with the leaf spring kit. From the looks just fitting parts up to the chassis it will fit most likely bolt on after drilling a couple holes. Might drop out axles and bolt up axle leaf mounts to check width

More playing around with this leaf kit.
Rear axle is out of the SE and leafs and leaf mounts are mounted up. I think I'm going to donate these shock from the Barracho to the Birthday Brat as it needs a better shock and I don't need a sprung shock with the leaf kit. I'll get some cheap dampers off Amazon to fit the bill. The width of the front hangers is spot on. Hate to see that the scaler fab bumper doesn't fit anymore. I'll have to learn how to braze to make new bumper mounts. (Been wanting to add that aspect to my building for a little while now). 4.75" tire is big on this truck lol but 4.19s should fit great.



 
Since the SE donated it's axles, I decided to toss these f9 clones under it. The front axle i had to take apart and reshim the gears. It would spin smooth then catch. Plus I swapped different hardware. Still need to sort out the drag link as the one that came with the axles was to long and the one pictured seems a tad short.




I really blown apart the Barracho so I can sort the leaf mounts out. I do have the leafs mounted to the axles and the front hanger on the chassis. I'll have to elongate a hole on each side to get it fully mounted. They are old holes i had drilled out before. My 3d printed t-case mount. broke a link mount hole taking it apart but planned on running a creeper T style t-case and a different skid. so not to worried about it.




My injora military style beadlocks showed up. Need new hexes if I want to run them as planned on the carpa axles.

Well my mil spec wheels won't fit the carpa axles or the proline grunts for the vs350 project so I mounted the fake hyraxs and will go on the Barracho project. So the wheels I chose for the Barracho will go on the vs350 since the grunts fit them




Fixed the birthday brat, last time out my kid stripped the plastic servo horn. I put the SE stock sintered horn on it. Also noticed the drag link was not parallel with the panhard. So I spaced the knuckle side. Took the axial shocks w/mini t springs off the Barracho and put them on the brat. Installed softs in front and mediums in the rear. The internal spring shocks will go on the Barracho when it's ready.





Finally trimmed down the DinkyRC interior to fit the SE. Installed with dual lock Velcro. Used the stock drag link from the SE axle to get steering back where it needed to be with the F9s.






Also swapped out the injora green silicones out of the vanquish geolanders and installed the dual stage foams from vanquish. With the weight of the treal wheels the silicones was just to heavy. I installed the injoras in the TSLs with the lighter roost wheel combo. Both combos feel better.

Need to get around to filling shocks on the sleeper ascent so I can drive it. Also got a different skid so I can install IERC low down trans kit. To help with the CoG
