hillbilly's LOW RANGE inspired cab swapped bronco

Been looking for Blackfoot body parts. Such as the grill/bumpers and tailgate/sunroof filler/driver, windows. Rpp has the windows and a great price too. But besides the body that was it until today.

I emailed there customer service and was able to get the tailgate parts tree added. Another great price for it too. The grill has been discontinued so will have to keep searching for that. I know it will be priced more then the body and going to have to cut it up for my plans. Also there's a guy on shapeways with some cool bits for it. A nice grill which make mounting better and light buckets too.

Besides Blackfoot parts there is other tamiya goodies for their bodies.

Back in to a roller again. Finished driver side truss. Need to find softer spring front the front shocks right now it flex as well as a brick. I'm going to convert the front shocks from dual spring to a single spring I believe the stock rgt Springs will work and soften things up. Before this phase of this build and right after the redcat axle swap it was just shy of 4lbs rtr. So get some weight on this thing will help it out just need to get it in the right places. So it don't play dead all the time. Anyways some pictures of a hrs worth of work. Lol



I will paint it all black before I'm all said and done.
 
Update, been busy with life to make it to the garage to work on this, but I picked up a toy truck from goodwill that had an interior kinda. It has a floor, seats, a sort of dash. Its on the small side even for a tamiya body but I can make do. It was only 2.99 so not out much if it won't work. Ill get some pics soon as I have been inching to work on with truck more.

As you can tell its small 2-3" shorter than the Blackfoot wb wise so hopefully I can make it work of just use parts of it.

I thought it was a great find for the interior. I like to check out the toy area at goodwill while my girl checks other stuff out.
 
I do the same thing. Lol. Me and my son searched high and low at goodwill and yardsales this weekend. We did find a huge atv that I almost considered but have never been too fond of them and passed on it.

Looking at the toy ford I picked up, thinking about using the bed as well the outer fenders of the bed is one piece and the inner drop bed portion is another piece. So thinking I can cut the outer sides off and use the bed that way. If it fit the chassis width wise and is long enough with the Blackfoot cab to look the part. It would make making the bed easier for how it needs to look. Then it would take just making the wheel tubs and fenders to match the 1:1. Another thing that I've been racking my mine is placement of the r2 trans if I get it as low as I would like I need to notch the frame rails or make to side plates and mount it right on top of the rails.
And as far as 3 linking the front the panhard for the chassis side I think this will work and cheap enough worth giving it a shot.

Had the day off and while my youngest is taking a nap. I got some time to tinker.

First test fitting the interior I picked up


Needs to be widened and lengthened but fits the bill.

Next was flexing like a brick

I removed the dual springs from the shocks and replaced them with the stock springs. It will get better after the leafs break in.


Wheel base has been bugging me so I shortened but the front links. Now it looks better to me

Watched a video on YouTube yesterday. About making a bed with sheet metal. I liked the idea so much I think I'm going to make the bed that way and not styrene. Just need to find some sheet metal that's thick enough to hold up but light enough so when do it don't want to back flip everything.

Yeah, I work across the street for a home depot might have to stop in o e day have work. Also one of regular deliveries always has some duct metal laying around I could always grab some up if its thin enough. I snagged a sheet of thin card stock cardboard from work so I can work on a templet of the bed. Guess its time to hack up the black foot body too so I can get my measurements right.

I like that bed. That's the one thing im thinking about trying to get the bed to look real. Maybe some scale hardware will help.

The card stock would be used as a template. In the video he used cardboard cause he didn't have much metal to waste. I need to look around before I choose my metal.
 
Were you thinking regular bed? Stepside? Flatbed/toughtruck?

I think the stock stepside looks cool but I also had considered getting this one to chop and make a rear cage for...didn't go that route in the end
