What is the History of RC Cars exactly? I'm doing a research project on it, and I need some help due to the lack of resources on the Internet. I figured what's better than the hobbyists themself? Nail away.

Try Tamiya's web site.

History of RC as I know it

The first RC car was made by Tamiya in 76, it may have been a model of a Porsche. I am sure that it was an onroad.

Next notable thing was the introduction of Tamiya's offroad capable vehicles.

Then there were the three speeds of the early 80's, Hilux, blazing Blazer, Bruiser, Mountaineer

Introduction of the Marui Big Bear, first purpose built RC monster truck, the blackfoot does not count because it is a modified Frog, not a unique chassis.

Since you are on a crawler board the 1986 (I am not 1000% ON THE YEAR) release of the ClodBuster

Then the next stepping stone was the Gold tub RC10 by AE. Because it was the first truely tunable RC race buggy.

Then was a short 4 wheel drive buggy race scene, including Yokomo, Kyosho and a even shorter prescence of Schumacher (Cat XL).

Then Stadium trucks were introduced and ruled because they are easier to drive then 2wd buggies and cheaper then 4wd buggies.

Then the next thing to change everything was the T-Maxx, it was the first nitro vehicle for the masses.

I guess the latest leap has been Brushless power followed by Lipo and Li-Ion batteries.

Hope this helps you out.

I did this as a topic for my Senior Paper in High School, and for my research paper in Comp 1 in College. There is lots of info on the net.
