Sorry for the delay, been working on it quite a bit. But you would not notice alot from pix.

Started on the paint process today. Got all my parts ordered a few days ago,rims and all!8)



SO I went to autozone today to see if they had a radiator and waterpump for the Land Rover. No go. SO i ordered one from frozen cpu and it came in.:mrgreen:

Also picked up a couple of electric fans.

Water pump is brushless along with the fans. Together they draw only .6 amps peak. So a smallish 3s should power them for at least a couple of hours.


Now i cant wait to get my other parts and get this finished.

No its not a watercooled esc. Great idea though.

I have never been a fan of large scale builds. However when i actually sat down and figured out what a real scale 2.2 would be, it turns out to be large! LOL

Got the tranny skid plate mostly done, radiator and waterpump mounted. Steering servo and links, tranny and motor servos mounted. Soon as i finish mounting the exhaust, pto winch and the body, i will strip it down and clean up the chassis then rhino line it.
And put it all back together.


Ended up going with a cs80 servo wired directly to a 2s lipo. Can you say power! It has so much steering torque that i panicked and ordered aluminum knuckles for the losi axles. It looked like the servo was going to snap the stock plastic knuckles right off.

All trucks need dual exhaust, so while i am waiting on the rest of my parts i started working on the exhaust.

Still messing with the exhaust. First time really working with brass. Pretty good stuff!

Solders easy, sands easy.......i think i will use it more often.

One into two muffler. Complete with mufler packing!

Came up short on one of the rear pipes. So will have to get more tubing.

But i did get to finish the exhaust. Except for painting of course.

Roughed in a small exhaust strap.

If the rest of my parts come in tomorrow, the fun will begin!

Got the water head in today!

Now the cat is officially out of the bag.

Alot of little things to do yet. And no zipties on the shocks...lol.

I tested the exhaust. Amaisingly quiet and NO burning eyes! Just alittle blue smoke out the two pipes in the rear8) i would drive this in a public park! LOL The mufler packing is working. It idles and revs great! Made certain the exhaust was not restrictive.

Soon as i mount the body and run the cooling lines, it will be stripped, aligned,sanded and painted.

So now most all nitros have a rear engine. since i opted for the more scale approach the axles had to be flipped in order for the truck to be running in the right direction.

The reverse works good. Have to adjust the two speed yet.

Why nitro? Thats the awesome thing about scale building. It has nothing to do with your powerplant,or what style of truck you want. It has nothing to do with lexan or hard body, styrene, where the servos at, etc.... its up to the builder to create his or her idea of scale"thumbsup"

And after owning my first nitro this year, a scale truck with a real scale motor was the spark that it took to get me back into building. So i sold all my battery powered vehicals and started this project.

Thanks. I was the opposite, started out crawling years ago, always was anti nitro. Until i traded for an old rc10gt this year. After driving it i knew that a nitro scaler was the next step in scale building for me.



Anyways i spent an hour last night running coolant lines, then two more hours fixing leaks and purging the system of any air.

Using a large 1/2 in clear line about 10 in long as a coolant tank that goes to the inlet of the pump. Then a small line running from the pump to the head. Head to radiator, and back.

So i finally get it leak free, no air, just pretty blue coolant. And no i dont like the looks of two of the lines. So i will re do it today.

My 1000mah 2s lipo is not going to be up to the task i dont believe. It runs the pump and fans for an hour, but if i add the high power front servo i think it will fade quick. And with no waterpump, just like a 1:1. I will overheat.

So i have to either get another small lipo, or just one large lipo. The goal is one solid hour of run time. It is not using much nitro at all. So i have plenty of fuel.

Will post pictures later.

Body is almost finished. Should be done monday.

May start on the pto winch?

Alright, does anyone know the safe mimimum temperature the engine can run?

Running about 128 with th fans, and 160 with out fans.

I may have to run the cooling system off the throttle to keep the temps up.
