Hiya
I am not new to rc, have been doing most branches of it for years, but I just recently got my first crawler. It is an scx10 honcho which had various mods done by the previous owner.
I have done a bunch of stuff to it already, the main thing was to fit a chinese CMS kit with panhard bar. I have got some stainless tube to make links etc and have been playing with geometry.
The most annoying thing was the reverse ackerman which seemed to be the thing stopping it having any kind of turning circle at all. I made up a couple of tiny triangular plates that bolt onto the steering arms, and have a third hole which is inline with the hinge point of the hubs so I can get zero ackerman.
It came with cast steel main suspension links, and 25mm axle extenders, but I took off the extenders as I just didn't like the look of them. I want to go more scale.
I have bought a proline jeep cherokee body, but the wheel base is wrong. The honcho is about 15mm too long. I think if I just went with it I would have clearance issues as the wheels would be hitting the corners of the arches too much.
Is it as simple as making shorter rear suspension links by 15mm? I don't want to adjust the front having just got the geometry to work well now.
I am quite happy to shorten the drive shaft if needed.
Any advice gratefully received.
I'm in Newport, South Wales, UK. Would love to find people local to me to go trailing with.
