Hot Racing 2.2 stamped steel wheels question

I guess I should take it as a compliment that HR copy my wheel design. They are not as detailed as the RC4WD wheels though: Mickey Thompson Mickey Metal MT-28 Internal Beadlock Stamped 2.2" Steel Wheels

If they indeed steal your design ( and I wouldn't put it past them given their past history) something should be done about it. I really liked your wheels, I just can't stand the 'Mickey Thompson' stamped across the face of them.

Your wheels haven't been out very long, so they were super quick to make their own if the manufacturing source is in 2 totally separate places. "thumbsup"

They just had to copy a 1.9 steel wheel, they have been out for a long time. Can't do anything about it really.

They are definitely made in two different factories. They are not the same if you look properly. There is more detail on the RC4WD wheel (I don't mean the logo).

I have to agree, they (the MT rc4wd) are awesome looking but I never realized that was an actual stamp, I thought it was a photo water mark thing... uh, why would you do that... it's kind of hideous and ruins the wheel., no offense of course. "thumbsup"

The MT logo is stamped into the wheel because they are licensed replicas and the 1:1 wheels are like that.

Thanks so much for offering!!

I'd like to know: how wide are they? ( lip to lip) How wide is the center section? How wide is the hub? What is offset ( or back spacing from the drive hex to the lip of the rear side of the wheel)?

I'll take them apart today to see what it is. They need a good cleaning from the weekend anyways.

Ok I got this

Center ring 1.4" or 35.5mm
Total width 1.6" or 40.7mm
Hub. .59" or 15mm
Back spacing .415" or 10.6mm

Hope this helps I'm not the best with a digital caliper yet. Stil learning how to use it.

"thumbsup" exercises like this will help with the learning curve for the calipers.

Now I got to break down one of my white steelies and see how it compares, spec-wise. Their ( HR ) center ring sounds kind of wide with a thick hex drive hub.

I've looked at the 1:1 wheels, all I could see was a small 'M/T' logo cast into the face of the wheel.

Here's the best pic I could find, I highlighted the logo inside of the yellow box.

Can you show me a pic of a M/T wheel that looks like what you are describing?

I'm not knocking you or your design, I feel that you are an extremely talented designer. I'm just getting started in AutoCADD 3D modeling so I can appreciate the work that goes into a product.

Why? That seems like a good thing to me. Lighter than metal and there shouldn't be any strength issues.

I just imagine that the plastic ring could buckle when clamping the 2 halves of the wheels together. I made some plastic "adapters" for my white steelies, but it was from schedule 80 ABS plastic, these ones look like thin styrene.

Ran mine for the first time today and they are awesome

Those look great on your Wraith! I like 2.2" x 1.25" wide for the Wraith, Hot Racing 30mm wide as per thier site.
