How do i make my own battery packs?

SO the other day while seeing that my wheely king suffers from having the battery in the rear and the fact that i rather make my own pack rather than flipping the chassis, I decided to make my own battery pack by taking apart a 6 cell 3000 MAH Orion pack. the thing is that i tried to solder on wires to make the series connections but i cant get the solder to stick to the battery terminals. ANyone have experience or know what i need to get them to stick? i wanted to do this so that i can mount 3 batts on each side of the WK and strap them on using either velcro or zip ties.

First off, you need a good hot iron. Did you scuff up the terminals? Use either sandpaper or the tip of a hobby knife and a touch of tinning paste will help out too. Be careful not to overheat the cell when your doing this- heat will kill a cell.

I don't know if anyone wants the liability of making a sticky or tech article like that on this site. I am pretty sure that if you check rccaraction.com you might find an article. Even if you don't find one specific to making battery packs, you will find good information on how to solder many things properly. That's pretty much how I learned. Follow the tips and practice.
