How do I quiet down a 48v fan?

What size is the fan? Why not just check ebay for a 48V fan with a fairly low CFM. Should be quieter.

Could you step it down to 12v? If so, this fan is less than 1/3 of the db level looks to be close to the same size and 1/4 the rpm with just over half the cfm. Depending on where you have it installed you could run two side by side if need be. Anyway might help might not but worth looking into.
