How much brass is too much brass for a trx4?

Hi guys, so far i've ordered in brass:
-C hubs
-outer front portal boxes
-samix brass knuckles
-brass link mounts

All in effort to get the truck more front heavy... I'm just curious what is considered overboard...

Thanks

IMO, "too much" is entirely subjective.

If you're trying to build a competition machine, even light duty competition, I'm sure there's an optimal balance between weight and performance.

Personally, I eventually want to make all my trucks close to scale weight, performance is secondary (as long as they remain functional). I prefer the scale side of my trucks and enjoy the challenges that come with heavy weight and small tires.

My apologies if this doesn't provide you with any answers but ultimately it's up to you and the driving style/use case you're after.

(Low, wide, un-sprung and non-rotational are objectively best regardless of how much weight is added though)

Personally I don't think that's too much. Only thing I would say is send the c-hubs back. Brass c-hubs aren't going to slide over the rocks all that good. Brass is very soft and the rocks will dig in. I still run the stock plastic ones because of that. Mine are actually the original ones that came on my rig 3 years ago. It's been time to put a new set on, but they haven't broke yet. LoL! I have allot of weight on my TRX, but I added it little by little. If you do it that way you get to see how it helped or hurt your rigs performance.

My Trx-4
Front unsprung weight added
150g of knuckle weights
Alloy axle housing
Aluminum knuckles
LockedUp heavy locker
Aluminum link mounts.

Only thing I've added to the rear is brass portal covers and hexes. Just to fine tune the balance.

Good luck with it brother! The Trx is one hell of a rig. Hope my babble has helped. Have a great day!

Honestly, you'll know you've gone too far when you get there. I have 3 TRX-4s here:
  1. Brass c-hubs, knuckles, front portal covers, link mounts, and lower links
  2. Brass knuckle weights
  3. Brass C-hubs.

The knuckle weights were originally bought for truck #1, but it was waaaayyy too much. If I had to do it again, I would likely just go with chunky knuckle weights all around. They add a lot of weight, put it out as far as possible (without being rotating mass) and they're relatively inexpensive.

None of my TRX-4s have any weight added to the rear.

Im just running SSD portal boxes and heavier bead-locks by GMade.
Often have to transport my trx4 in a bag while riding public transit. So i try to keep the weight to a minum on my back while in transit

LockedUpRC has black oxide steel TRX-4 C-hubs, if you want some weight AND strength, yet slide over rocks better than brass.

They have the whole setup in steel, as well - portal covers, knuckles, and the aforementioned C-hubs.

All compatible with stock plastic parts - so if your brass parts are properly compatible as well, they could be mixed and matched as you like.

Thanks, I'll probably be getting those soon too, so I guess I'll stick to my stock plastic c hubs, I was concerned they would break thats why I went with brass, but the steel is better as it won't dig in as bad to the rocks..

Late to the game here. I've got the samix brass c hubs, knuckles, and a few things one my trx4 and love them. It climbs really great and of course I've put alot of different upgrades to make it much better. I've got it built for my fun and driving style. I'm also baby it when it comes more to the rocks and not sliding it against the rocks. Oh and there's no such thing having too many trx4's, we have 3 at home. And I'm thinking of possibly adding a blazer to the collection.
