How to switch mad force to electric

oh there are many ways. guess i could take the easy way and just tell you to read all the good threads we have made.

easiest way is to visit SuperShafty.com he has chassis's, axle mods, axle parts, tranny parts, link mounts. all that.

I'm gonna suggest to just start reading this board. Not to sound mean, but there is a TON of options, and they're all in here.

Is this a new kit or did you pick it up used? Are you planning Super build, scaler, 2.2? You will need the axles for sure and then hands down the best option for a trany is an Axial AX10. Even better fill it with metal gears. Revo shafts are a staple also.

You probably could. Not sure it's ever been done. I'd recommend a Tekin RX8 and 1700KV motor on 4S or 5S lipo.

The bottom half of the gearbox looks the same for both trucks, but I don't see a way to easily connect an electric motor to the 3spd gear changer. You'd need the top half of a TwinForce gearbox, which has the motor plate an spur gear. (See pgs 11-13 in the TwinForce manual)


The Axial trans would make things pretty easy; there's a link somewhere in this forum for one with an aluminum housing and metal gears. You'd need that, a lower-tooth spur gear, a pair of Revo driveshafts, and either drill out the axle output shafts so you can use the Revo yokes, or get aluminum ones with set screws (you still have to drill the aluminum yokes, but it's much easier.) You'd need to make a BL conversion mount in place of the nitro. It wouldn't be much harder than for a buggy. I did that

Get some 2"x2"x.2" allu angle and just make a simple mount. Then choose what ratio you want and lock that gear to the shaft, and the Bob s ur uncle!

Here's my take on electrifying a Mad. It uses Twins shaft with slipper on a TRX 64T 32p spur ( there's space to go bigger if desired ) and half of Twins motor plate mounted to the "floor" so it doesn't use Twins bearing carrier. bad angle but motor has all the clearance it needs from the drive chain and can lenght is not an issue
