Never understood this venture anyway. I always hated the street hummers too so no tears are shed by me. It always seemed to me like most people with the H2 thought they were bad asses just because they had an H2. A guess along the lines of the super lifted pickups, at least in my mind that's where they fit.

The H3 is the one that really got me. A re-badged trailblazer starting at 45k!

Great! That is all our area needs now! Another 5,000 unemployed people! I live about 40 miles from the H2 and Humvee plant in Mishawaka IN. Our area took a huge hit when all the RV factories shut down, now this! Great!

Unemployment rate is around 22% right now in our area. There are not even enough jobs to go around to all the people who are out of work right now. Even if every position at every business was filled, there would still be thousands left without work.

That really sucks!

Yup, good ridance. The military "hummers" are way oversized for the job, the civilian H2 and H3s are for soccer moms wanting to feel empowered and fellas who never take them off road. (and if you take offense to this, don't worry, no one really knows how big you are).

And according to the news reports, there are only 3,000 people working for hummer. THAT is not good news, and my thoughts go out to those who will soon be out of a job.

A chinesse company didn't even want Hummer, despite some chinesse companies making Hummer knockoffs. Never thought much of any of the Hummers myself. Its not like the real Hummer (H1) is going anywhere though, its a completely different entity. Never thought too much of the H1s either, they are good offroad vehciles but thats about it.

I wa jjust guestimating on the amount of people to likely be affected. Not only does it directly impact the production employees but all the vendors in the area and repair services that base their business off of the hummer facilities.

The Military Humvee plant will still remain operational, they are justr closing the doors on the H2 and H3 plants. Those are the worthless hummers anyways.

Seeing H2s and such always made me think of the Family Guy clip where the guy is driving his H2 and watching Madagascar on an in car TV while screaming how bad ass he is.

We'll hopefully, see less of this type stuff

ive never really been a big fan of hummers

military- too big, impractical, out dated design, and tech
civilian - too big, impractical, driven by douche bags and mom's who dont know how to drive

dont you think they'll be making somthing else, as a replacement? sounds like updating the armed forces fleet would actually add jobs

could just be my naive thinking though

In the one pic I was glad to see the school bus won, and not just because I hate H2's and H3's.

The military last I saw had several different companies competing for the hummer replacement. It was great when it came out but they need sometihg easier to armor up and more versatile while being a smaller. For most applications the thing is just too damn big.

What they need is a Land Rover Wolf. 8)

they were talking about it on the radio today, they said that the hummer division only sold 9k trucks last year. Granted its bad that people will lose jobs, but with such Poor #'s it would be stupid to keep it open, GM already bleeds money, that we give them, I'm glad to see them stitching up one wound.

I still can't figure out how GM justifies having two truck brands in Chevy and GMC. The Avalance/Escalade EXT are the only model not offered in a GMC, otherwise the Chevy truck line is redundant. GMC should be the GM truck line, Chevy should be the car line, and Cadilac should be the luxury line. I never understood the Buick line either...
