I got a Weber 2 barrel on my 87 Toyota with a 22R
Today the truck started as usual and Idle high when cold, I it let warm up
a little then blimped the throttle it idled back down to normal
it ran as it should I drove to the high way it warmed up like normal
it ran good until I came to a stop light, I stopped and the truck was revving
at 2200 rpm's and would not drop back down to normal idle of 800 to 1000 rpm
like it did after it warmed up,
I pulled over in a parking lot and I took the air cleaner off
And looked at the choke butterfly's and there about 1/2'' open
which is why it was idling at 2200 rpm's
I then took a Phillips screwdriver and loosened the 3 screws on the choke
plate, and turn it towards the fire wall and that opened the choke butterfly's
back up and got them to be straight up and down and re-tightened
the screws and was able to drive the truck home
the question is why did choke butterfly's close and stay closed ??
I tested the power wire too the electric choke and its got 12 volts
constantly when the ignition switch is on
Can some one please tell me how set the electric choke ??
and set the gap on the choke butterfly's when the truck is cold
cause I need too reset the choke since I had to turn the choke plate
to open up the butterfly's to be able to drive home
I know the truck has to be cold and ignition on so the choke is under power
and I know I turn the choke plate towards the front of the truck
just not sure how much of a gap of an opening I need for the choke
Butterfly's when the engine is cold
Hoping some one can walk me thru how to set the choke
cause I don't think the truck will start very easy
cause there is no choke at all with choke plate rotated
it needs the choke adjusted so it starts like normal
thank you
