are you planning on running in comps or just bashing ? if just bashing then i would go with the rear steer , if you are planning on running comps i wouldn't do either . the rear steer isn't legal in comps and the dig could only be used in 2.2 pro class , if you are new to comps then i would recommend getting into the sportsman class to start with it is easier to learn in this class . in the sportsman class there are only shaft drive rigs ( also called shafties ) , now don't get what i say wrong it is still a very competative class ( but it is kind of a learning class as well ) . sportsman class is what i run in our local group , it is a great bunch of guys ( always willing to help out a new driver to help them improve there abilities) .

X2..I run Sportsman too...I used to run Pro 2.2 but got real tired of the drama around here and went back to Sportsman...the sporty class seems to be growing again too.

sportsman sound like a go. yes its a compliment lol. i do wanna comp so i guess i hold on the rear steer but man it looks fun to have! i have never resolder anything let alone r/c related. would saddling the pack help get rid of the battery tray? and im thinking after yesterday that i need some weight in the front. are wheel weghts the way to go with this?

If you make a stick pack of nicads into a saddle pack then it can go on the front axle on either side of the servo...then see if you need more weight up front...you may not...now if you switch to lips then yeah youll still need weight. And yes..saddling the bats to the front axle allows you to remove the bat tray.

i was considering movin to the lipo but i really cant firgure out what size? mounting to the axle seems to be the thing to do. any suggestion on a lipo?

what speed control do you have ?
never mind i just went and looked if it will handle 3s ( 11.1v) then i would look at about 1000 to 1350 mah and at least 20c rating

ok that i new it could handle the 3s just wasnt sure on the mah.

I just posted this last night in another thread here in the Venom forums...

ok here we go.....

balance charger for lipos and other bat types; Imax B6-Pro 50W 6S LiPO Charger

lipos...2S... 2S - 7.4V - Batteries - Power
lipos Id recommend... GForce 30C 800mAh 2S 7.4V LiPO
and/or... GForce 30C 1300mAh 2S 7.4V LiPO

800mah is probably the smallest to go with..any smaller and they dont last long enough...I comp with 800mah 3S packs and run 2 courses of 5-6 minutes each per pack...then put in a fresh pack.

Not in the other thread but, I usually run 2 800mah packs to get through the main courses...and when I makes the finals I run a fresh pack...so 3 packs per comp.

lipo sack... Large Lipo Safe Fire Retardant Lipo Charging Bag

then get some WS Deans Ultra Plugs...males and females to mate the batteries and esc...female side on the battery always...then if you need a pack when are at a comp or out with friends..their packs will plug into your system...make sure you watch the polarity markings on the Deans plugs.

if you dont have a BEC then youll need one of those. The Castle Creations BEC is the way to go for sure...best in the business. You can contact Holmes Hobbies from here on RCC or do a Google search. If you order from them John's company will program the bec for you because they come from Castle set at 5.1vdc...the bec needs to be programmed for the maximum voltage that your steering servo can take...most are 6vdc but check your servo. You can also buy a Castle Link which is a cord for programming the BEC's and other Castle products form your computer.
