I'm Back :)

Which is completely sucky. I guess I'll pop for a SCX10II.

That new Blazer is just way cool.

Anyone know if there are any ascender kits left?

Agreed. I've been sitting on my wallet and holding a space on the shelf for a V2 but that may well have to go to the new 10.2 blazer. Luckily I still have a kit sealed and stashed away...

From what I have heard guys, I would say don't hold your breath!! "thumbsup"
Ernie
What makes you say that?

Rich was recently on Live @ 9:45 with Adam VanOrd and he would not confirm nor deny an Ascender 2.0. He did say that Vaterra and Axial are both sticking around and that there would be awesome new Vaterra products this year.

You mean I'm actually going to have to buy an SCX10 II??

The SCX10 II really isn't any better than a well tuned Ascender. I'd hold off to see what's next on the horizon.

NICE!
i would love to add a third ascender to my garage. now my mind is spinning thinking about what we will see on the 99% confirmed ascender "2.0"! i hope it doesn't mean they are just putting a new body on it haha aw man that would be kinda anti-climactic.

by the end of the year! just in time... for the holidays! well played, vaterra! well played.

i would imagine they would keep the changes to a minimum to keep cost down, but i am sure they want to address the torque twist. so yeah maybe axles or a mechanical fix like swaybar? and a new body would be nice, as long as its not JUST a new body ;)

I would be VERY surprised if there isn't a revision of the transmission housing and gearing. Possibly a driveshaft input change? Through pins on the outputs also? Spitballing like we've done for months, i know, but I'm pretty excited about this news. Rich's stream on FB gave me a glimmer of hope, but this brightens that a bit more.

I know what you mean, I was downright giddy when I saw the article on my FB feed. I really hope you're right about the driveshaft changes and gearing. They have to do something to deal with that monster TT in V1.

I'll be out in Minneapolis again in a couple weeks. Sure wish I could take a truck or 2 with me. And have time outside of meetings to go wheel!

Like I said, it's just guesses at this point but that's where I'd start.

Obviously if that ever happens, you'll have to let me know. Worst case, I can point to to in the direction of some good spots if I'm not around.

Hmmm...got the new Blazer, it's actually pretty cool. Flimsy compared to an Ascender, but crawls pretty good. I just might have to get a new Bronco too...this flavor. ;)

I'm going to guess the axles were redesigned to get rid of the torque twist. In all honesty that's the only complaint you ever see on an ascender. And they like scale so maybe a front mounted trans and t case? Crossing my fingers!

The TT originates in the trans tho. If they changed the ratio there, the axle gears/size/design can stay

Not to be a right fighter but absolutely not. The super high axle ratio of 1.85:1 is what causes the torque twist. Trying to overcome the lack of gear reduction in the rear end makes it physically easier to twist the frame over than turn the ring gear to make the truck move forward. They HAD to go with more gear reduction in the transmission to make up for lack of reduction in the rear ends so that we wouldn’t be smoking motors within minutes of use or tuning at badger speeds.

Fair and well explained. Thank you!
