Hello everyone! Im from Utah and new to the forum and the hobby i've wanted to build a scaler for quite a few years now, I've trolled a few forums for a few months now and I have a few questions.

I almost walked out of the local Hoby Shop 3 times this month with a SCX10 Honcho kit but every time I almost do it i think about how much it is and how put together already it is. If im going to get into this I really want to have to put the damn thing together myself.

So here is the deal I want to try my hand at making my own Scaler, I have the tools and metal working know how. I know I will need a rolling chassis, suspension.

The problem im having is I need a list of all the parts I may need as far as Electronics and Drive train (tranny, x-fer case, motor). I tried searching the forum but couldn't find quite a request like this. I just need a guideline of what i'l need to build a complete rig so I dont miss one of those important required parts to get it going.

I know its n00b and long winded but any help would really be appreciated. Flame on, Thanks!

First off, welcome to RCC. As long as you post questions like this in the Newbie General section, there is no flaming allowed in here. "thumbsup"

If you want to build a kit, I would start with a Honcho IMO. Its a great kit, everyone from the pro's to the beginners seem to love it.

As far as electronics, it all depends on what you can afford to be honest. If you have the cash, this is the setup I run on my Honcho......

Any motor will do on a scaler, especially if you plan to put it in water.
