In need of traxxas battery connectors.

I hope your all happy. You just cost me $25. I bought the 20 pairs of xt connectors and my parallel charging board for xt60 connectors. I did buy the xt60u connectors. they are the newest ones from amass. Anyhow, here is to a day of soldering. Gonna need some beer.

You did the right thing. You'll be glad. This story had a happy ending....

Seriously. I ran deans forfawkingever and thought they were great. Then I started running bigger power and realized I'd need to upgrade my connectors. Luckily a couple friends had recently switched to xt60 so I got to check them out. An afternoon of soldering later I'm happy as could be.

I have been using traxxas connectors for a long time ..i justvstuck.witg what works...but they changed them and now you wont be able to buy anything otger than a traxxas battery with the connector so im.switching to the xt60 connetors due to.a suggestion and tge fact that ebay has packs of 10-20 pairs with heat shrink for like 20 bucks the connectors dont come apart/easier to solder /smaller and will do.the same job for me ...

Make you a deal on about 10 pairs authentic traxxas connectors. I have never had a problem with authentic trx connectors. No chance they are coming apart. In fact my battery has come of my rig on a crash and it held together.

LOL. :lmao:

You probably need a better iron. I thought I sucked at soldering forever and finally invested in a good iron. Makes all the difference.

Me too."thumbsup"

I just did a few of the xt60u's for my ISDT charger and it was the *easiest* ever. I barely touched my 140W Weller to them and they were tinned, then just pushed the tinned wire to the tab and it was fused. One I didn't like the angle so I re-melted it 3 times and the plastic wasn't even phased. A real Deans Ultra tab probably would have sunk at that point.

FYI if you can get additional sets from aliexpress for a bit less. I got 5pair of "Amass XT60+" for under $4. They have AMASS and XT60U-M on them and slip right into the few genuine XT60's I have from batteries.

FYI2 if you plan on using enough power to need 12awg, you might want to consider XT90's.

Maybe 90A burst, but not 90A continuous.

Real XT60's and XT90's (90A continuous) are also no-shrink, the 90's can even come in anti-spark form. There's also XT5's which are glorified yet cheap 5mm bullets and are rated for 120A continuous, also no-shrink tubing needed.
What are the anti spark versions?

I still use shrink wrap on XT60s.

My iron is nothing special. I just have an old weller 40-300 watt adjustable controller with a 40 watt iron. Does a fabulous job.

Usually 3S & higher has a very loud/bright spark when you connect the leads, it's generally from the ESC caps filling. More voltage & bigger caps make it worse; a boat ESC with an external cap bank can be pretty nuts. Anti-spark just has a resistor in the tip to slow the initial current. When fully inserted they bypass the resistor.

The shrink-style XT60's are fine but the XT60U's give you a little more finger hold with the wire caps.
