iPhone VS Driod

umm the only reason why at&t's network is larger is because they are international.

while im in the US give me my verizon. i cant count as high as the amount of times one of my friends w/ an at&t phone asked to borrow mine because they didnt have service

no doubt the iphone is an amazing piece of hardware. but it just doesnt catch my fancy and i choose to not support mac in any way shape or form

as for the real keyboard. umm... did you not know the droid has a slide out keyboard?

personally i dont like how flat the keys feel but like they claim, it is infact a real keyboard

that right there is what totally turned me off about the moto version....I HATE slider phones...give me a butter soft FULL touch screen any day!!

Yup i hate slider phones as well or all button keyboards now days. That's one of the reasons why i went with the droid eris by htc. "thumbsup"

It seems like everyone is making a big deal out of the "real keyboard". So what is the big deal? Me personally I don't like it. I like the clean, smooth look of a touch screen and don't care for the slide/flip style phones, less moving parts the better for me. Is that all it is with the love of a real keyboard, people just like to feel and hear the little clicks when they type?

i actually prefer the tactile keyboard like the black berry's

and like slide out keyboards over a touch screen keyboard
the htc imagio has a pretty nice feeling kb and i loved my older samsung "brick" (sorry i dont quite remember the real name of phone. been soo long since ive had it)

tried speed typing on a touch screen?
the real keyboard allows for much much much higher aps (actions per second)

prominent keys allow you to also get a higher wpm (word per minute) count. one of the reason i choose to use a full size old school hp usb powered keyboard over my laptop keyboard while im at work. *note my laptop keyboard 100% w/ a keypad

Yep, never had a problem with it, but them again maybe it is because I had no problem speed typing on the old school standard 12 button keypad found on phones back in the day before fancy keyboards came along. ;)

psssh. you dont have to tell me i was a texting jaugernaught w/ the original nokia.
t9 is for pansies:-P

I went and played with a droid at the best buy last night. Very cool and easy to use (I have never owned a smartphone)

To the current droid owners out there: How well does it work as a MP3 player? Hows the sound quality?

Texting on the iPhone is really quick once you have used the touchscreen for a bit.

Wont use a Slider or Flip Ever again.
Really like the Blackberry's but the Keys just feel small, But i haven't used one much.

Yeah the touch/flat key/button is a debate, but thats all personal.

Personally I have the blackberry style, and the flat on the Droid was not what I was used to. I prefer the iPhone's screen keyboard and their quite good predictive text.

There is so much crap in this thread it makes me lol.

I have the eris, favorite phone I've owned, but I kept my blackberry active for business use.

You want the smart way to go? Don't choose a carrier because of the phone. Choose a phone based on your preferred service provider.

I don't care if the phone is cutting edge, I just want it to be easy to use, and have cool programs.

For some reason cell phones make me retarded, I can strip a computer down, put it back together, put an OS on it, network across platforms to share data and printers, but hand me a cell phone and I get luck if I can dial the damn thing...

Oh, I have done some digging, and I have proven that the iPhone does not have an app for everything. They do not have an app for keeping score in a crawling comp.

I'm picking up a Droid tonight. I already have a bunch of Apps that I'm going to get:

Adyno (going to use this alot for tuning my motorcycle)
Swype (touch keyboard with slide typing)
Bubble (3D level)
Shop Savvy (take a pic of the barcode and check prices)
aCar (for car maintinence and mileage)
HandyCalc (scientific calculator with graphing)
Ultimate stopwatch (for timing comp runs)
And a bunch more

By the way, sears online has the droid for $50 (upgrade or new) and Best Buy will price match.

Just moved up to a moto droid from a bb storm and used multiple iphones(replacing batts).

The Droid has a touchscreen keyboard also...You don't have to use the slide out keyboard. I'm a mechanic so it depends if my hands are clean for which keyboard I use. Also uses micro usb plug, and comes with a usb charger so no need for two separate cables.

As far as browser speeds, Droid and Ipone(3gs) about the same both. Some sites loaded faster on one or the other. BB loses as the slowest, also the most secure though(bolt browser almost keeps up with them)...all using 3g

Best price on the Droid, $50 with free shipping. Only good if you upgrade or get a new account though.
http://wireless.amazon.com/

Bought mine through them last week and went flawless, brand new phone and newest os version 2.01.

Best price from verizon is two for $200 and comes with two lines and data packages though. Also only good for upgrades/new accounts.

More Apps I'd reccomend:
Slide it - alternate method of using the touch leyboard. Way faster than typing in words.

T-counter: counter that can be used by judges during comps. Supports up to 4 individual counters when tipped sideways and you can change the labels to "Reverse +1" "Rollover +5" "Touch +10" and "Gate +10".

Works great but I wish it had a timer integrated into it or added up the total. Maybe I'll start dabbling with programming and see what I can do.

Rather have a real keyboard on my g1 than just touch screen. Those of us who have real man hands need it. I personally tried the iphone and always tried speed typing and ended up pressing more than one letter on most occassions because of me big fingers. Music wise, I have a stereo on my truck and I mini laptop, beat that.

The touch screen keyboard is definately a weakness on my iphone. However, I don't text much, and I'm not very fast at typing on a phone keyboard anyway, so it really doesn't bother me. I do prefer the feel of the keyboard on my wife's Nokia e71x, but I'm no faster typing on it than my iphone.

The iphone isn't perfect, nor is AT&T. However, at least in my area, the combination of the douchebag liars that they call salesman at the Verizon Wireless store along with VZW's screwups when converting my Alltel account to VZW, made it impossible to stay with Verizon. Those asshats tried sending me to credit collections after cashing a payment to Alltel, but supposedly it didn't make it onto Verizon's system as paid. I refused to make a 2nd payment on the same bill (did I mention that they processed my payment), so they sent me to collections. Fawk Verizon.

Verizon forced me to switch to AT&T.
