iPod problems.

I have a 5.5 gen. 30gb classic, it froze a while back and I reset it manually by holding the menu and select buttons and it erased everything. So, I finally got it back out and started fooling with it to see if I could get it to work. So, I restored it through iTunes and it started syncing, and at about 1440 songs synced it stopped, and said the required disk could not be found and the sync stopped. I've still got 3 thousand something more songs to put on it but still says it can't find the required disk to sync.
So, if anyone knows or had the same problem, let me know and if there is anything I can do.

As I said before it was showing on my summary that it had uploaded 1440, I unplugged it and checked it, it's only showing 14 songs.
It heats up a lot when it's plugged into my computer, and it clicks and makes other noises, is that the Hard drive?

Yep, same thing happened to my 80gb one after my daughter dropped it once.:x Would sync, but only keep 8 songs and would only play part of one before freezing.

Yeah. You probably got to a bad cluster/track or something and caused the error. You could try installing 1400 or so before it hit the error mark but even that might still not work. Just depends when and where it has an issue. I have never messed with an ipod but I heard you can replace the hard drive but the one you get has to be 5mm or so thick for it to fit. Also has to have only one platter.

Google ipod open or hard drive repair for better videos and some good ones on opening it.

All the depends if you feel like fixing it though..lol

Call Apple support and tell them what is going on. Mine was doing something similar last year, I called since it was less than 1 year old and explained the issue. Apple sent a postage paid box to my house, I sent the iPod to them and a week later I got it back, fixed at no charge.

Thanks for the input guys.
I'm going to be upgrading phones here shortly, so I may get an iPhone. I'm not really sure how old mine is, I bought it off ebay since stores didn't carry the iPod classics anymore. (At least what I wanted.)
It's not holding a good charge and heating up a lot, and I have to replace the Hard drive, then I may not worry with fixing it.
