is it illegal to engine swap?

If you can build "mean street/drag machines" you should be able to make more than 500hp with a 16:1 CR. I've heard of people making that much with 12:1, hell on HorsePower TV last week they made 518 hp with bolt ons from the Summit catalog with a 347...
with bolt ons....... my motor has all matched ports.

I don't Doubt the guy can build a mean street car.I know lots of folks that can. But i see no need to have a 16.1 347 that only makes 500hp and then want to put it in a jeep.A high HP 2 wheel drive jeep could be one hell of a sleeper but not with the sound that 16.1 makes out the exhaust.

its not goin to be a sleeper. i looked through my dyno notes and it makes 612 hp with full exhaust....

headers only is a little more. and the motor dont fit no way with the c6. the headers need to be tucked more or i got to hack the jeep a little.

and it was a simple trophy truck build. but its a jeep

oh and yeah. i run a 11 inch tire on the 79 with 800 hp and i got a 9 sec flat et.....

I realize a 10.5 can be good with a ball load of chassis work, but if you put 800hp to the fox in "his" video, that thing wouldn't hook for shit. Their is a local guy that owns a speed shop around here that has a 8 second street car on a 10.5 tire, it also has a tube chassis...

I must say hooking 800 with a fox is not that hard.
I good set of tires they can even be drag radials,UPR uppers and lowers,UPR anti roll bar, good rear shocks, really good struts, sub frame connectors,Lower battle boxes, and a upper S-box.
All of that stuff can be installed in less than a day by the owner if he has a welder. The only major mods IMHO would be the sub frame connectors and the S-Box.The S-box is not a have to have you could just solid weld the upper boxes.
That's about all it takes no cage or anything else needed.

This little car made over 600 at the tire with drive train loss probably over 700 at the flywheel.Hooked like a mofo with those mods on the 275 radial.
We drove this car everywhere to boot.

dude, seriously? give us all of your engine specs. port matched heads and intake are nothing to write home to mom about. and if you haven't noticed, people are proving your engine is bogus. and desktop dyno doesn't count as a dyno sheet. if you want people to take you seriously, then give us the specs of your engine, and i mean "everything". i want to know from carb to oil pan.

im not one to say much but sounds like ur dreaming or something. 16 to 1 and 500 (600 so callled now) You leave a half plug wires off or something. as far as efi over carb is personal choice and knowledge both will get u close to peak but unless u try both u would never know what makes the most on ur engine. Also size of the tire makes no difference if car is set up right to a point. my buddy has a 70 chevelle and runs 325 et streets and his car has ran 8.72s on pump gas. Its a real street car, non chassis car, adjustable rear end stuff but basicly the stock set up. race trim weighs around 4000lbs and his old set up dynoed 1477 at the wheels(25psi) and his new one should be 1600 plus but he hasnt ran over 20psi yet on the track. Its all on ur ablility as it looks u know how to type.

one of his passes at BIR this last summer

thanks he is very smart guy alot of one off hand made parts on his car he made. Its a 540 bbc with ??? turbos LOL. Trying to get a ride in it this coming summer before he pulls motor as he wants to go faster. car is limited to 850s as its over 3600lbs and he wont gut or do fiberglass to fenders or anything. Will be in a 68 firebird next and he is shooting for mid to low 7s with same motor and turbos. also runing 323 gears "thumbsup"

you obviously have nothing more than an imagination. and your "secret" engine is bull$hit, you've been called out. either post up some engine specs. or continue to make yourself look like a tard, your choice. and the reason you don't write home to mom, because you're 13 and she still does your laundry. "thumbsup"

say i have a ford 302 stroked to 347 and i have 500 horses on it and its carbed. and i have a 98 xj. would it be illegal to engine swap a newer motor out and puting in a custom? its a project i am doing and i wanna drive it weekly. 2wd xj trophy truck.

Yes, this would not pass emissions as you would be tested as a 98 XJ.

Case closed. Close thread please.
