I have a Hitec Aggressor AM 2-ch like this one.

It clearly states 75MHz on the side of it.

However, the other day I dropped it and broke the board inside rendering it useless. I went to the LHS to see about buying a replacement. They had one in a boxed set with servos but they were willing to break the set up. We went to swap crystals and he said I have a 27MHz radio!? He showed me how my crystal
says 27.167 (or close to that) which indicates its on the 27MHz frequency and is a 27MHz radio.

So, if its a 75MHz radio, and I have no reason to think its not, why would it have a 27MHz frequency crystal in it? Works fine with the truck but now I'm confused.

Please help, and keep in mind I am a rank noob...
kind regards,
pablo-

That radio is available in both 27 and 75, and they shouldn't be able to be swapped back and forth. If the crystal says 27, and the receiver says 27, I'm guessing it has the wrong sticker, and is actually a 27.

the receiver in the truck says 75MHz.

I really dont understand whats going on but its starting to piss me off.
Someone please help me understand the relationship between the transmitter/radio, the crystal and the receiver.

Mystery solved. The 27MHz crystal was mislabeled on the outside. when we pulled it and opened the plastic case it was marked as 75MHz as it should be.
