Where do you guys stand on this? Say you bought a lot of tires, split them up and sold them individually to make some $$$. Bad ethics?

I wouldn't say so. Someone here sold a lot of tires cus they didn't want to ship them to 10 different adresses? His loss your gain.

If you originally paid for the tires, I see no harm in selling for a profit.
I often buy things from Craigslist or K-bid, and resell them on ebay for a profit. It's not like your selling water someplace after a disaster, and taking advantage of people during/after a crisis with inflated prices for a needed commodity. That would be unethical.

2 days ago I almost bought a Wraith roller.
I only needed the axles and shocks but I was about to buy the whole thing and part the rest out (to make my needed parts cheaper)... but then I found shelljeep's Puller's, bought one of them and didn't have enough paypal for the roller, so I bought the parts I needed from the seller and I'm sure he'll part out the rest "thumbsup"

Nothing wrong with that IMO. You bought in bulk and resold them, happens all the time.
+1......I've bought a large package of something because that was about the only way to get them, then sold of the "extra" to others.

They get what they wanted at a fair price, I get what I wanted for cheap or close to free.

Ok, so thats bulk items. Say you do a buy one get one free, then sell the one you got for free. Unethical, or smart business? The reason I'm asking this is because I buy alot of stuff on here, ebay, craigslist, etc. I may not need the parts at all, but if I can turn a profit to fund my builds why not. A friend of mine made the comment that I shouldnt sell the "free" item. That its wrong and if anything I should give the item to someone else. I call b.s., there is nothing wrong with making a profit. If I'm willing to sell my Sedonas for $10, why should you not be able to turn around and list them for $30? I'm just using those numbers and tires as a example but you get the idea. If I'm willing to take a loss to sell my stuff cheep to hurry up and gather some funds, why could the next guy not step in and make a profit?

That depends on the free item. I've given people stuff for free, then seen them turn around and sell the item. That pisses me off....

And sometimes we buy sweet and very fairly priced used brushless motor combos only to find out a 7.5k motor wont work at all in a 1/10 scale rig. :lmao: I have given people things I would otherwise sell, and that bugs to see it up for sale. I have sold lots of items (non RC) that had lots of potential exploration and learning for the new owner. To see a lot like that split up and for sale would really bug me. "thumbsup"

I don't see "buy one get one free" as getting one "free". I see it as getting both at a reduced price, so you are actually buying both...just on sale. I see no problem with selling the so called "free" one. Besides, how would you know which one was the free one :ror:

I agree that is pretty low... However, it was also a bad judge of character on your part thinking you were helping someone out who wouldn't appreciate it and is only out to make a buck.

Yeah, stupid me for being nice...

I hope you're not rolling your eyes at me specifically. I'm in agreement with you about that.. That's why I won't give anything away unless I know the person pretty well.. Too many jerks with no moral compass.

To the OP I don't think that is fishy at all.. Since most (all?) tires are only available in pairs you're simply supplying them to people in a way (and quantity) not made possible by the manufacturers.
