How is that a problem you ask? Well *I* want the Twin Hammers! I was going to get a SCX10 kit for myself for my birthday so I have something to putz around with while my 5yo son bashes it up with his SVT Raptor Traxxas Slash. He loves watching YouTube videos of RC stuff and I showed him some of the SCX10. He wasn't convinced.

Him: "You need something faster daddy so you can race my Raptor"
Me: "But I want the Axial Dingo or G6"
Him "...." Gives me that "look" like I am crazy.

OK, I show him some Wraith videos doing more rock bashing than crawling. He takes to it a little more. "It's no Traxxas but I think that is OK for you" are his exact words. He thinks the RC world begins and ends with the Traxxas Raptor and nothing is as fast or could possibly keep up.

Problem is that I really didn't want a Wraith. If I get a rock racer I would rather get the Vaterra Twin Hammers. I read up on the hammers watch every video I can find and decide that I think I would rather have the TH than an SCX10 or wraith. So then I show him the Twin Hammers videos posted on the rccrawler youtube channel.

Him: "I want that for my birthday"
Me: "No I'm getting this for my birthday"
Him: "I want that one for my Birthday. You should get the Bingo"... he calls the Dingo the Bingo.
Me: "My Birthday is a week, your birthday isn't until October, several months away"

Wife enters the conversation

Wife: "Let daddy get it for his birthday and you can play with it now instead of waiting 9 months for your birthday"
Me: "Hey... wait! I thought this was supposed to be my truck to play with!"

I can only hope that he gets bored with the Twin Hammers quickly because it isn't as fast as the Slash... Maybe I can give my wife an SCX10 for Valentines day. She would love that right?

That's not a problem. That's a learning experience for son and a lesson in parenting for your wife.

Buy the twin hammers for yourself and let your son drive it once in a while after all its YOUR birthday present not his. Then your wife can learn that life isn't always fair for 5 year olds, sometimes they have to wait for what they want if they even get it at all.

yeah, let him drive it, in 1st gear, do not show him the button for second gear:)

My son already gets mad if I put his Slash in "Training" mode. If he sees it going faster he'll know what's what.

"It's going too slow put it on Full Power daddy..."

Though he does know to put it on training mode on pavement or it just traction rolls at 20+mph.

Before you buy anything else, teach your son how to make a lot of money or steal a lot of money. If he is that hooked on RC at that age, your gonna need a bank full of money to supply his habit. lol.

+1. Don't ever, I mean EVER let him get into any aspect of RC flight if you want to keep your marriage and a solvent bank account...just kidding!

This is important news ?
