Jeep Wrangler JK (SWB) ... 1st scaler

wow...thanks for giving this info.
but, how u cut that steel brake-line or sheets?.....I only have dremel, but I think it is hard to cut it, right?
and this torch is what i have now

The bumper is steel, 22 gauge. The winch tube is brake-line. I'm using Harris Welco® Safety-Silv® 56 with a torch with MAPP & Oxygen gases. I was surprised at how easy it was to figure out how to braze.

To cut the brake-line, I just use a tube-cutter, like this one:
DSww88g1W2A0qt62HZoNLX9TnRHCH6BHxoh9lyWyYNybIkZ8BmTjcb59lJJzZFdISoUNjRk8cNE6QZ2uKjbIYP6tlSHg5dXn5y_XjcdXGe9m0SVvrk8eHEGJvLnrVJHLz63cDFPpPkXfWuMYGJceLCKwan8P5h8zOR7yYnRljo0hmKZAGg=s90

And for cutting the steel sheets, right now I'm just using aircraft shears (metal cutters). But, my friend has a scroll saw and just got metal blades for it. So, we'll start using the scroll saw for better, more accurate cuts.

Neither of them is difficult to cut.

Oh gotcha nice choice with the rooster
I have both a novak 55t rooster combo and novak 45t rooster combo and love em

Good to hear. Now that the 1:1 project is on the back-burner again, the RC will get some attention.

Also ordered a LiPo battery and charger; some more little scale accessories, and was gonna order a radio and receiver, but I was told it is too close to my birthday -- guess I'm getting that as a gift.

Update photos

So, progress is being made. All the electronics have been received, but nothing has been wired together yet. First, I'm putting the vehicle together in order to get the wheel-base set correctly. Then, I'll take it apart, do the wiring, and start some more fabrication: roll cage, rear bumper, etc...

But, it's coming together.

These wheels were the closest to the 1:1 that I could find.

I still think that these 1.9 tires are too small for my scaler look. The 1:1 has 37" BFG KM2's (see picture below). I don't know, maybe not after looking again. Maybe I just want bigger tires. Right, bigger is always better.

I have the 4-link truss in the rear, but the links are all the wrong length right now. As a matter of fact, the rear input shaft is pointing downwards (which is barely visible in one of the photos above).

Question:
Anyone know what the rear links should be to shorten the Honcho 12.3" WB down to the JK's 11.8" WB? (I would rather not change the front at this time).

Thanks.

got a nice scaler there. I have been trying to make a good jeep wrangler body, as in paint it good. I suck at painting haha!"thumbsup"

Looking good!

Lets get those bodys chopped up so we can break out my airbrush again! Your inspiring me to get cracking on my Unlimited scaler build.

Thanks. I'm gonna experiment with the rear links. 98mm are in front, maybe they are the right size for the rear, too.

I didn't really do the greatest job trimming this 1st JK body. Maybe I should put this one away, and trim the 2nd JK body. I've also gotta figure out how to make the silver decals ... but definitely, need to paint this thing. The new article in the Car Action mag has me inspired as well. 8)

Also, I've gotta fab the "crusher corners" and make the rear LED taillights.
 What is the best adhesive to stick painted metal to the Lexan body?

The airbrushing ought to be pretty easy:
black.

Man, this is looking great! I'm really anxious to see this come together since I have a 2 door JK as well, and am "planning" on using the Proline body as well. Keep up the good work!

hey this is Ty right?? we met on the October run in big bear last year, I brought the red yj and am yjdavid on jkowners too. good to see you on here! build is looking good!

I was thinking of decals or pics from the inside of the lexan.
It may be "just black" but I want to see DETAIL! "thumbsup"

That looks damn good bub"thumbsup" Awesome work on the brazing. I planed on doin something like that when I get a job so I can get more into a SCALE build. Awesome 1:1 Jeep by the way"thumbsup", try not to run over everybody. haha
