Jeremy's Sporty

I made some new CF rear upper links ala Jeepsohigh:

Damn, looks like all of that driving down near the salt water has taken its toll on this truck. Time to get out the WD40 and go to town!

I pulled a 4th place with this truck over the past weekend at Best of the West. I made two stupid mistakes on my first course (immediately after hours of plane flights and driving) which knocked me down from 2nd....not fun, but that's how it goes. Anyway, a few pics:

Hi,

Very very nice crawler "thumbsup""thumbsup"

For the CF links, I use it on my sportman for almost 1 year and it is extremely solid. On the other hand I do not use a pin. I drill the rod ends at 4.2mm et I tap to M5. And I glue the rod end this epoxy.

Damn, you put a lot of work into those links! Nice job! "thumbsup"

All I did was fill up the rod end with CA and stick it onto the CF rod....then pinned it.

They seem to be holding up quite well. "thumbsup"

In fact, the CA glue very well on the carbon, but not on the rod ends (it are probably there delrin). One see it on the rod ends autopsy, the carbon with the epoxy easily came loose. But it is very solid because the threading ;-)

For my carbon links I jb weld the tube/rod into the end, then once that sets up i put a small bead of epoxy where the link meets the end. I have had a lot of success running them like this. But I think the pin is a good idea as well"thumbsup"

Thanks Mike! It sure wasnt an easy task....those courses were rough....there were more than a few broken sportys out there at the end of the day.

Yeah, I really think the pin is quite helpful at keeping the links together.
