Joywrex's Creeper Build (First RC ever)

The TT is much better now. Adding the spacers on the back helped a lot, I'll add some more when I get some.

It broke when I got stuck in a hole and gave it too much power. The pin covers on the shaft only fit over 1/2 of the pin so I think that the only place the pin to go was through the plastic. The pin cover could have been pressing against the pin...

Should I just get the Traxxas long truck shafts or try to find just the plastic parts of the venom shafts? I'm guessing the Traxxas shafts that people are using would last longer...

if u want to try the stock shafts again i got my 2 old drive shafts that i can send u for spares? just a thought but i would also suggest the traxxas driveshafts.

hmmm thats strange because with my spare creeper kit with the updated driveshafts the alluminum covers cover the entire pin. I am running one on the front now just to see how it holds up. So far so good. I've twisted the traxxas male shafts but have never broken the metal yokes yet. The new updated venom shafts seem to hold up really well but you should see why the cover's dont encase the entire pin, mine does. I always carry my extra traxxas shafts though just in case!

Here is a better picture of the shaft break:

I also noticed this....

Thats where most all stock shafts break. The new pin locks so far for me have worked great. Still operational after 5 hrs of chasin those moa's, very successfully I might add!

Could this chassis work with the creeper? It is an unknown kamikaze. I want to buy the losi shocks off of this and was wondering if the chassis would be worthwhile...

I added the new skid plate which has the sloping front in it.

It seems like there's more play between the left and right wheels on each axle than there should be. I think I need to JB weld the diffs...I just locked it with a spacer earlier and i think something is messed up in there:flipoff:

Also, I fixed the driveshaft that broke. I had to sand down the pins a little bit in order to get the venom pin keepers to fit over them.

It'll be a while before I get to cut some parts. One more class and I can use a Tormach CNC machine...

I decided where I want the holes to be and drew over it.

I like the idea of a vw bettle like profile so it is good at rocking back and forth upside down.

It will have 4 chassis pieces so that the shocks and links can be mounted in the best locations width wise.

Instead of tin or sheet plastic I want to make the panels out of Hylite. I have some 1.2mm thick stuff. It's really cool. Its aluminum sheet sandwiching polypropelene so its super light but really stiff. (Its kind of like an I-beam effect but for sheet material)
That hylite will be screwed onto the chassis to reinforce it. Here is an Ipad case I designed with it (http://joby.com/gorillamobile/ori-2/)

Because of this maybe I can make the chassis even thinner...

No comments on the chassis i guess...

One of my wheels had the red hexnut jammed in off center. lame.

Here are what my diffs look like:

I jb welded them. I re-installed them without the plastic piece that used to slide the red part with the pins in it in and out of the diff. Do people keep that little c shaped piece in for some reason? I took them out.

Simple question.

If you have 2.2" wheels and you mount them on thin wheels, are they still in the same class during competition as rigs running the stock width wheels? Even though your wheels are much larger in diameter now? Seems like cheating so I want to do it"thumbsup"

if your saying running a 3/4" rims compared 1 1/4" rims its legal, im running 3/4" mayhem evolution rims, does not puff the tires up a lot but it does give some advantages but then your raising your rig as well so u help one thing and hurt another
crawling and setting up a rig is all about compromise"thumbsup"
