i am looking for a new radio for my crawler and a couple other of my cars. My local shop has a jr xs3 w/ 2 receivers for around $100. Is this a good deal or am i better off passing on it and saving up for a better radio? I may even be able to get it cheaper, it has been sitting there for a while.

If its the 75mhz its a good deal. With 27mhz you only have 6 different frequencies to pick from. I used to have an XS3 and loved it.

it is the 75 version and i may want to add a dig at some point. so this is not a good radio if i do want to add a dig? also i was going to run it on my revo w/ reverse.

the 75 mhz version is the good version, you can choose from channels 60-99 if you get a synthesized reciever.

I have the xs3i (not sure if there is a big difference) as far as dig. the radio I use in one of my 2.2 crawlers for dig. it is only lockout dig tho or you could use it for just free wheel dig, but you only have a choice of either lockout dig or freewheel, not both.

the third channel is a two position. I like it and the dig that I have works flawlessly. for the money that i paid for it, I have no complaints.

so if i did want to do just a lock out dig this radio would be a good deal. It has 2 receivers with it so i can get at least 2 of my cars going right now on the same radio. I am currently running tq3 radios. would this be a great improvement over this radio?

Yes, much better.

Like Yukon said, if you have a 2 position dig it will work fine, it just doesn't have a 3 position 3rd channel.

I just bought the pro vers of this radio (yesterday) after deliberating for at least 2 yrs whether or not to spend the $$ on one. RXs are about 50 bux a pop but you can have 1 TX and 10 RXs all set up differently - plus both the RS300 and the new really small RS310 all work together. I like that - dont have to switch crystals, batteries, or keep a radio for each car/truck/boat. Plus you're independent - you can run without worry of interfering with other radios.
If your LHS has a radio and 2 RXs for $100 buy it fast!!

it does have 1 300 rx and 1 310 rx, it is used so i may go and look at it tomorrow again and see if they still have it. The box is still with it. should i look for anything in particular to make sure it is all ok? also i have not read about digs at this point. is a lockout dig all i would need if i decided to go with a dig at all? i do remember the owner saying it came with some sort of rtr buggy and the owner just bought a dx3. so next ??? i already have a couple of more cars on the 75mhz freq. with futaba radios. Could i use those receivers with the crystals in them and just make the radio match the freq for those cars?

Wll i went to get it today and it was already sold. oh well, always a little late. i guess i will have to start looking for a good 3 chanel radio that wont break me when i buy it. i see this same radio selling on ebay new for around $100 shipped with 1 receiver. http://cgi.ebay.com/LST2-JR-XS3-Syn...oryZ1200QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

are there any other radios i should be shopping in this price range? up to around $150

i went back today and it was there again. It was behind the counter when i went in last time with a sold tag on it. The person ended up getting a spektrum radio and i got it for $75 w/ 2 receivers. the plus side, a person came in looking for a tq3 radio only and the hobby shop owner asked if i wanted to sell mine since i was buying the other radio. so i got $30 just for the radio i only had to come up w/ $45 for the new one. and with the $25 i paid for the tq3 w/ receiver i have $70 in this total. and i still have the traxxas 3 channel to use elsewhere if i need to.

I was going to get one but the LHS price was band and only 27 mhz. If its 75mhx grb it, good deal. I got a futuba magnum 2PL for like $70 and i love it
