Just Another Wraith Build

Did another trail run today. The tires and foams consistently impressed me, especially for it being wet, and I haven't even vented them yet.

I've kinda ignored this rig while I was building my CXT. My GF drove it on a trail run last weekend, even with a 2s pack it was a bit of a handfull for her. I got DCW link risers installed and UC Fab Ti diff skids, which seem to work pretty nice.

Here's some shots from my home course I'm putting together.

Nice looking setup. Good hints on the motor choices you made and the tires as well as it helps out others looking to get into the hobby like myself!

I've always thought this was a great looking rig. The Deadbolt body is really cool on a Wraith. Seeing it here helped me decide to paint one up myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

Could you post pics of the esc. I would like to see how you mounted everything. Thank you. Just bought the puller system.

Wow! That is a great looking Wraith!"thumbsup"

It really does look like the old school Broncos from the late 60s early 70s, which is a favorite of mine!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

Nice work!

Forgot how much fun this rig is. Took it camping last weekend, had an awesome time crawling with it in the lahar debris field from Mt St Helens, damn ash makes a mess though.

Nearly lost the Wraith in the Muddy River, I was sitting down, looking at the view, not aware I had my finger just barely on the throttle, GF yelled at me as it dove into the river, I ran over into water up to my knees to grab it, also with the remote still in my hand, stupidly. Both got completely submerged. Servo (brand new 7950 of course) had nice twitch after the dunk. Took it back to camp, opened the servo and blew the few drops of water out of it, same with the remote. Everything is still works, thankfully. I was really pissed that I did that.

Decided to step down to 10/56 gearing from 12/56. At one point I did manage to thermal shutdown the ESC on the camping trip, it was close to 90º outside and I was was binding it up in the rocks pretty good. Top speed is still a respectable 14MPH. I think I want to install a dig kit next.

I decided to pull the motor apart since I dunked it, looked pretty good inside, Holmes does a good job of sealing them up.

Dig kit showed up today thanks to Amazon. The servo (Holmes HV400) is a bit overkill :ror: but I had it on hand and it's no longer suitable for steering applications. Really liking it so far, should bring a whole new dimension to crawling.

Axial dig. I wanna see how it holds up. The VP Hurtz dig looks nice, but I'm pretty sure I'd have the trim the interior to fit it, that and change the transmission case and whatnot.

Took it to Lucia Falls for the first time in a while. Dig really helped me pull off some awesome lines. Managed to not break anything, didn't even had any hardware work loose, so it was a nice trip. Starting to want more torque than a 7950 can offer, all the Hitec servos I've bought new have been bomb proof for me, the noise is annoying though.
