Re: KC's commemorative build

update**

decided to make a custom set of single stage foams as this truck is starting to get heavy. so here we go.

step 1:
make a template of the size of your tire.
IMG_20120211_194829.jpg

step 2:
choose foam
IMG_20120211_194840.jpg

step 3:
cut just outside of template. i personally use a razor sharp chefs knife
IMG_20120211_194915.jpg

IMG_20120211_194901.jpg

IMG_20120211_194851.jpg

step 4:
tape the width you want ur foam to be.
IMG_20120211_195102.jpg

then following the tape line all the way round makeing sure to make shallow cuts all the way around a little at a time till you get all the way through. once youve gone all the way around once the foam will guide the knife.

after fully cut
IMG_20120211_195216.jpg

next lay the template back on the block
IMG_20120211_195313.jpg

then using the template to guide the knife edge start trimming
IMG_20120211_195401.jpg

should end up like this
IMG_20120211_195522.jpg

mark the template for center and drill a small hole that a 2mm driver can fit through
IMG_20120212_201557.jpg

center template on foam and push driver into hole
IMG_20120212_201557.jpg

i made a styrene guide to make center hole.
IMG_20120212_201705.jpg

IMG_20120212_201613.jpg

trace a line all the way round using the guide on both sides.

then using a long razor blade cut out center makeing sure to follow the lines.

IMG_20120212_201744.jpg

once cut out put on a rim and place on vehicle(my method) and tape the trigger down. using the blade to shape the foams and get them running true.

I shot some video the other night and got home...No video! I was recording when I thought I wasn't and not recording when I thought I was! DAMMIT!

Thx kila! Yes for tools or whatever scale stuff I wanna toss in... mayb even a dead body lol. The box(and body) when built by richard aka pardonmynoob it was intended as a batt box as it has an access hole passing through box and bed. But I decided to run the batterie a little lower. Not sure where the mirrors are from, they were on the body when I got it from him.

nice rig..
looks like we got a lot in common with the hilux.
here's mine.

Well got the bumper made last night. Wanted to keep it simple and maintain as much appoach angle as possible. Was gonna cover it in sheet, but still on the fence about it...

Also got squadron sticker with our mascot "olaf" on it. Gonna cut him out and put him on the hood where he belongs.

After an hour of trimming around him and making sure to leave a slight black outline her it is on the truck.

I officially have "OLAF" the ugly angel on the hood reflecting the nose art we have on the aircraft. The commanding officers plane has the colored version like this. All the other planes have to be plain with the dark grey.
