Big Mike
I wanna be Dave
I installed a set of those on a Chevy Blazer for a guy when I worked at Big-O tires a few years ago and the whole time I was thinking how the heck is he gonna get this thing back up the mountain to his place??? He showed up to pay and he just drove away like it was no big deal!! Was pretty funny seeing a K5 rolling tracks on the dry road.
Yea, those are not custom built, you can buy them. They ain't cheap though. And they are steering box/linkage slayers if you don't keep them strictly on snow.
I've seen a couple of the uber-rich folks around Park City UT sporting those units, they do roll down dry pavement pretty decently. But it's stupid rich-boy he-who-dies-with-the-most-toys-wins overkill IMO. You could put 2-4" of lift and some decent tires on on your pretty painted, chromed-out H2 for far less $$, and have very close to 100% of the capablity of these track units. And not have to pay a shop to remove them for you when mud season rolls around...
