This coming from a man who has a song that is being played on the radio isn't even his own music.....it is a butchery of Warren Zevon and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

But at least he was up front about it and credits them for it. Sampling happens all the time now, why can't kid rock do it.

I like the song, but still hacks me off when I first hear it due to the fact that I think I'm about to hear wolves of london, then the sweet home part kicks in...

Yeah...I know it does....but I dont like Kid Rock's music.

Yeah, I heard someone listening to that song at work and I was excited too....."A little old lady got-a-mutilated late last night....AhhOoooooo!"

Yeah, and I heard Friday that Skynyrd is sueing. Not for sure though. Hell, Poison's Unskinny Bop's lick is from "I know a little" off the Street Surviviors Cd from Skynyrd. But nobody ever said anything about that. There is only things said when everybody knows what it is or from.

I have to tell you guys, nevermind where he got the music for the new song, he just nailed how it was in michigan back then right down to smoking the funny stuff by the river!! I must say that song automatically makes me remenence about the old carefree days, I truly mean carefree. Hanging out at the beach having a good ole time with some freinds and sweet little hotty that was up from the south for the summer

Exactly.

It's a "Summer Anthem" song.

We all have songs that remind us of summers gone by.

Did it ever occour to you guys that Sweet Home Alabama and Werewolves of London was the type of music Kid Rock listened to in his youth? And that there's reason he used samples from those songs in his song?

I like the song. For all those saying he "stole" the music...riiight.

If you ever have the chance to see him live, do it.

Wife and I saw him in 2000 in Atlanta for the Summer Sanatarium tour with Powerman 5000, System of a Down, Korn, and Metallica.

Hetfield wasn't able to perform but Kid Rock and Korn came on stage and played Metallica songs with the rest of Metallica.

Kicked ass.

Since Hetfield was injured, Metallica later came back and played a FREE show for all of the Atlanta ticket holders.

I might not have read very closely, but I didn't see anyone saying he "stole" the music. It would be a TERRIBLE career move to sample music and not ask the creator first.

Now, as for the downloading issue...I don't see anything wrong with it. However, I do believe that it should be done only to listen to the music to determine if you like it. If you do like it, the correct thing to do is to "show" the musician so....if you don't like it, then delete it. Same thing as if you had heard it on the radio and decided to buy the album. Anyway, the CD sounds MUCH better than the mp3 files that most folks have downloaded.

It's getting old hearing these big time musicians complain about people "stealing" their music. I have a good friend who is in a band and he encourages downloading of their songs. He says it helps spread the word about their music. I agree with him....and I imagine that a lot of other musicians do who don't hear their songs played on mainstream radio.

chip cross, I found the same thing after I posted. Should have done a little research before posting. And for more proof that Skynyrd is not suing, pissed, or anything else that can be said, look here

specificly 5:00 into it.

I'm not a Kid Rock fan per say. I like some of his stuff and not so much of the rest. However, I have a lot of respect to artists who like all kinds of music and not just stuck in what they do. Besides, not all of them started where they became popular. Look at Kenny Rodgers, he sung about drugs in the 60's, forget the name of the band. Vince Gill sang for Pure Praire League before he became country/bluegrass. And on the 23rd of this month I am going to see Robert Plant and Alison Krause in KC. Yes that's right, Robert Plant singing kind of bluegrass. He turned down touring with Zeplin to do this tour for the second year.
