you can see here the amount of silt even after a high power dust off with shop air:shock:

i was actuually impressed with the slight amount of wear on the axle/locker engagement area. these have been in here from the get go!

front case:
little bearing at the end of the shaft was wollowed out a bit causing some minor rub on the inside of the upper link mount.

there is the culprit of the weird noises!

notice the inners of that small bearing riding down the shaft towards the gear.

did you notice any difference when u started using the ti shafts in the gears instead of the stock shafts? i havent had any issues with the stockers but if its worth it, might go ahead and grab the ti upgrades. i see you still have some left in the little white tub huh?"thumbsup"

I have been running the Vanquish bushings at the ends of the shafts because of constant bearing failure there. I am still running the stock original gears for a year now. I have also bent one of the stock shafts and replaced it with another stock shaft. Get that thing ready for Nats already.:flipoff:

i built it originally or very soon after with the ti shafts if i remember correctly. they are lighter but in no way would i be able to do anything differently because of them.

i do still have quite a bit of the gearscience grease"thumbsup"this stuff goes a long way. it will be getting the fully lubed for nats.

i will very shortly be running the larger ceramic bearing at that shaft end"thumbsup"

You can cut that tube deal off the rear axle lower half. I dont think that elusive cutting break will be out anytime soon.:ror:
 
I think the "it" thing right now is to wrap about and inch and a half of tungsten impregnated epoxy around the outside of the axletubes and let it dry. You should go ahead and do that before Nats (while you have them apart I mean)... Just sayin' "thumbsup"

so....

i have been thinking about a new design for some time now.... actually, to be fair, it has been haunting me and i have had many sleepless nights over it!

not just another shape or different looking cab, but something i think is slightly different.

same y-town bj styling with a little different take on the structure. it may be considered a unibody in the end, but it was designed to be the absolute lightest bodyless chassis to date, at 1.8 oz, but still maintain a durable and rigid base.

to do this i would have to remove all the weight that was left... the braces and hardware.

this chassis will only have the upper,lower and shock hardware on it, basically eliminating all the delrin braces and hardware involved.

the chassis is completly carbon fiber and actually snaps or clicks together before being epoxied together.

this is a "true" prototype chassis that i have put together for testing. i have to thank my "napkin art" interpreting brother for getting my thoughts into a cuttable file."thumbsup"

first are the clear lexan panels i cut to make sure we had the parts meshing together right.

Pretty slick! Looking forward to see how the joints hold under abuse:twisted:.

i have some more ideas if they dont. this one was bonded with a reg epoxy, i have some hysol 9430 coming, that is what they are using on the bike frames.

again this is a true prototype, i am not aware of anyone doing anything like this at all so it is going to have a bit of a learning curve i would imagine.
