Summer was too busy with work and I had this Kyosho Outlaw Rampage pro kit sitting on the shelf for a while. Well, I finally opened the box and found out, it’s 70% assembled. I like kits and was missing the build challenge, so I took the ugly Motor on axle (moa) off to at least look at the gears... and then it hit me:
The rear axle is much narrower than a short course truck or a Yeti. In fact, it’s almost scx10 width. So, 15min later I had a rough mock-up and what I will be dealing with the next weeks. Rampage pro solid axle truck done right:

I need to dial in the upper link length and decide with which drive train I go, but I LOVE that body and stance - and that it is more tenth scale and not ar60 width.

Now we're talkin'! I was hoping to see this happen, and your's is the first that I've seen. Have you worked out what the factory gear ratios were? What are you thinking for the transmission? Maybe just a simple AX10 or low profile version of the same?

Not sure about transmission yet. I keep it 2WD and the rear axle isn’t Kyosho anymore so... There is plenty of room in the middle - even for a Yeti trans, but I just have a regular scx10 one available right now. Guess I will hack that brand new chassis up to make the driveshaft fit.
This thing is so light I think I go with a sensored brushless system.

Will you guys please just stop! [emoji35]

All of these cool ideas are gonna bankrupt me![emoji1787]

I hear you... I was so excited to finish my KOH Jeep when the Sendero came out. That’s still in the box because this showed up on my porch - ordered it from Kyosho about six months ago - LOL
And I have several bodies to paint - I hate painting - aargh. This hobby .....

You beat me to it. I noticed that a scx width axle would fit too so i ordered The pro model and it's been on backorder for a couple weeks now. The trans is the only issue i see with it so it's just a matter of figuring out what fits. Gonna be a cool little truck when it's done. Nice job!

Thank you. If you get one you’re gonna beat me to it I bet. My hobby time is so limited. And your best chances are Kyosho America. Took three days once in stock. And it is!!

Well, this is the theory...
Had a planetary trans laying around since a straight set up seemed to be best - and it all fits without even cutting! Excuse the wire mess, but I had to throw some electronics in there and see what happens. It’s moving!

But in slow motion due to ratio - LOL
Back to the drawing board.

Oh, and the rear axle needs to go - need it for a different truck. But I found something better: SSD rear axles use short knuckles/lock outs (whatever the end pieces are called) and they align with the sway bar mounts. There shouldn’t be too much tension on these screws when the sway bar flexes.
