Less flex after yeah racing desert lizard shocks?

My stock shocks were leaking and loose but they had a lot of travel. New ones seem to be stiffer (they compress most of the way) it seems like the suspension has a lot less flex. 90mm. Normal? Maybe I should invest in a higher quality shock? I am using the 1 soft spring inside that’s it.

Remember shocks need to measure mounting eye to eye length compressed and extended, this give the amount of shock travel and can be different for same overall extended length.

Edit, iirc those are internal spring shocks, I'm not a fan of this setup due to the mess you have to deal with to swap springs. This also created a 100% droop setup, which I'm also not a fan of, like to have some up and down travel when the truck is sitting at ride height. Also less travel is sometimes better crawling, IME I don't like tons of flex and suspension travel, ymmv.

Less flex can be better for crawling. I have the Desert Lizard shocks on my Ascender and like them. I have them in the "mostly" droop setup. I just had to go from the soft to medium short springs supporting the truck. I have the soft springs in the rebound position. My truck did great with the soft setup until I modified the battery tray to go to a comp, the extra sprung weight was completely bottoming out the softs.

When you screw the cap on the desert lizards you should have the piston pushed all the way in.

This is because the displacement of the shock shaft increases the pressure inside the body of the shock.

Also I only fill mine like 50-75% of oil.
