well i am building my new scaler and am probably going to go lipo with it because of space. i prefer nimh because i have no limitations on my rigs, so it WILL see water. just curious what the lipo will do with excessive water? submerged?

LI-Po's Like any battery should not be submerged in water. Getting splashed and then being allowed to dry is not as big of a deal but being submerged is not good. Your asking for trouble. Seal the pack in a bag of some sort or a large enough balloon.

The cells should be properly sealed and everything is fine. However, with the construction style of most packs there is a high risk for shorting among the cells when the water contains any minerals.

bag it!

putting a lipo in a balloon or bag is okay to water proof it? no heat issues?

Did you not realize that you quoted a post from nearly 7 months ago, which happens to be long before maxamps started their lipo waterproofing.
