have a few batteries that are quite old. Looking to get some new ones. I have a sky charger and a hitec charger that can charge two batteries which according to the guy at the hobby shop is a sky charger just rebranded and a good bit more money. anyway he recommends the new smart chargers and batteries from spektrum. that's a hell of a lot of money. my packs are about four years old. According to him they would last longer if I had a good charger.
any recommendations? Thanks"thumbsup"

Keep your old charger. 4 years is a long time. I like smc batteries and the floureon from amazon seem enexpensive an decent as well. Assuming we are talking about lipo battery's and skyrc imax b6.

Smart chargers are great if you're stupid. If you're capable, as I'm sure you are, of identifying pack specs, know how to multiply by 1 and can tell red from black you don't need it and will likely find yourself limited by it.

I've been having good luck with the Floureons...seem to be good low cost batteries.

My Revolectrix PL8 is over 4 years old and it's still one of the best chargers out in the market. Same goes for a lot of the Junsi/iChargers. As long as the charger is still functioning correctly, you should be fine. The new Spektrum chargers look like ISDT chargers with the BattGo technology.
