Looking to buy an AR-15

Well I bought my ar-15 not long ago...the maker called me and said theres a recall on them and i need to send it back so they can fix it. I did some research on it and it turns out that the whole trigger group is m16 parts (yea me right) not! All this stuff in not good to have prison time I guess.
So I guess what I'm saying is there trying to cover there asses.
They told me that there is something wrong with the bolt and carrier not being mil spec and they need the whole rifle to fix it...they will not send me the part to fix it myself.
watch out for what you buy you don't want illegal parts in there like I have.

I really don't like sending my ar-15 clear across the united states to get it fixed:x:x

maker name, american tactical imports

great rifle thou love it.

What are the laws like on rifles you assemble yourself? Do I have to register it and all that jazz?

I'm far from an expert on the AR however from my understanding the lower (with the SNs) is the only thing that has to be registered and go through an FFL. The kit in the link below does not require and FFL. Kinda like with Glocks the polymer frame is considered the gun despite the slide and the barrel having SNs also. I can buy aftermarket slides and barrels for my Glock without an FFL all day long.
