has any one ran one of these? i was down at the hobby store to day and saw one, and they looked like they would be a blast to have. they are relatively cheap too rtr which is nice. any one know of common problems with them?
Diffs, but I hear there are some new stronger gears out now. The yare fun if you can keep the diffs in good shape. I would suggest looking at an RC18T/B/MT insted of a MLST
I have a Mini LST, and a RC18MT. I say wait a month to see what pans out in the diff situation on the Mini LST's, then get that if something reliable comes out, it can handle more rugged terrain easier. As of right now though, I would have to say the RC18t is your best bet.
The Mini LST is a cool truck. But... There are several problems with the Mini LST. The servos do not last very long. The drive cups are soft and wear out very quickly. The diffs were weak, but Losi did correct that problem somewhat. We raced these on my Indoor Micro Offroad track. But everyone has pretty much given up on them. We no longer even have a Mini LST class. The 18T and 18MT is a much stronger truck.
got an idea for some one with a ton of money to burn all aluminum lst with twin dynamite rc c4 9200km motor on mamba 25 escs with two 3 cell lithium ions and all steel drive train that would destroy any thing

I have a Mini LST and it is sweet. I have had diff problems, but as a fix, I bought the MIP center Ball diff, and put a Dual Disk Slipper on. I am running the Tekin Mini Rage Extreme brushless system, and a 2 cell LIPO. The only time I ever had problems with the diffs was when I made a spool out of the stock diff. Another fix for the diffs is to boil the gears. As for the stock axles being soft, I took out the pins in the stock dogbones and replaced them with the pins out of the Stampede axles, no problems. There are also the CVD's that can be bought if you don't want to mess with anything.
I have an RC18mt, mamba brushless, lots of hop ups. It is wicked fast for sure, (50-60). Very hard to control though. I just cant keep turnbuckles from popping off, drivetrain is solid, just pain in the *** little things.
Have tempted to sell it, if interested pm me, I am up in the air on it. Got too many other trucks as it is. Lots of hop ups and gp batts and stuff. spares as well.
I have a mini lst with the monotuning arms to give it a wider stance. I also have a hyperion 6000 motor and a 2s lipo in it.
Carnage list:
- few pinions on the rear diff
- popped numerous tie rod ends
- blown one servo out (my fix for this was to gut one servo and use it as a pivot point. Works just fine now on a single servo).
- Broken 2 tires because the hexes didn't fit right
It is crazy fast. I usually play with it in front of my house. I've worn down my tires pretty good. I really do need to replace them.
i'm really starting to look into these, and i'm almost certian i want a RC18MT. what i need to know is what is different between the MT and just the T. i'm assuming the MT parts are better since its new, but i can't seem to find a specs page for each. any one have experience with either, or maybe i hsould look into something else? only thing is it must be under 200, 4wd, and elec.
the MT has lower gear ratio and bigger tires than the regular 18 and 18buggy the only flaws ive seen in the assc. 18's are the hing pin retainer/bumper is weak and the pinion/spur is exposed so if you run it offroad rocks and dirt get in there an jamb up the works. my mslt has blown the diff but it also came with 2 packs of the new diffs other than that i havent broken a thing and i race it on our 1/8 scale track all the time.
