Rossler built 2 speed based off of the TH400, called a "Turbo Glide". Not a true OEM I guess but similar in housing looks. Anyways they start @ $5200.

this very similar to the record holder.

I know this is way off track of the OP but is an interesting topic"thumbsup"

thats a drag trans, alot of new OEM cars that have the ridiculously fast ET's are Manumatic transmission, it's a really cool Idea, the servo's in those trans can shift faster then you can think, you have all the perks of a manual, and of the auto, it's sweet.

On a side note, I'd LOVE to have a Flappy paddle Trans"thumbsup"

The only difference in a auto and a manual auto "drag trans" is the valve body for the most part.
I put manual valve bodies in almost all my drag and street transmissions. I like to have the control. Now the TBSS is still a auto shift valve body but I can control it with the computer.
As for servos boy can the speed and firm up shifts and clutch pack clearances and band apply stroke can really firm up shifts to.
Autos are fun to dig into they are amazing how they work.

But I must say I like throwing a manual trans car around on the street I just always have in the back of my mind how much quicker ET's it would have with a good auto setup. Its the drag Racer in me i guess.
We pulled a TKO600 out of a car last night and put in a nice C-4.
LOL.....

Why can't a sub 10 sec. car not turn or handle D.D. duty?
Hell I drove a 9.80's ride everyday for over a year and got almost 20mpg in the process.

You did autox's or track days? Thats what I mean by turning, other motorsports segments.

And up by me, you'd be hard pressed running a sub 10 second car in snow...especially how poorly they take care of snow.

A manual will in most cases always be stronger and cheaper to maintain. More fun?? IDK about that. Fastest car Ive driven was a high 10 second auto car and that was plenty "fun" just having to keep control. Personally I wouldnt want any stick car faster than 12-11sec. Not being able to have both hands on the wheel IMO is less control than with an auto. My '00 TA 6sp avatar went 12.7s with a slipping clutch and was plenty fast for having to row through the gears.

The two main types of dragracing are heads up and bracket. Either way being consistant is key. If youre grudge racing for cash and you know your car can run a 8.5 all out and youve been sandbagging all night the car better be consistant. If youre bracket racing in a class and you dial an 11.5 the car better be able to run an 11.5.

It really depends on what the OP wants to do with it. if its going to be a 13sec or slower ride to daily drive/beat on and go to the strip on the weekends than youd probably be better off with the stick. If you have plans for big power and or plan on bracket racing in classes than an auto would be better.

And for the guy wanting to see sub 10sec stick cars....

Garth Weaver's World Record Twin Turbo 6-spd Viper - YouTube

That vid is like 5yrs old. There are several Viper and Supra stick cars that have been running those numbers for a while now, to the extent I would call it consistant.

And no, not in a million years would I ever want to drive a stick car that fast in the 1/4. Throw an auto in there and Id be game.

you can definitely tell alot of you guys are from the flatlands, where the only real racing is drag racing.

while you might be right that an automatic is faster (pretty much guaranteed) for drag racing, to me it would not be as fun as rammin that bitch through the gears, I also hate push button 4x4 where its done "automatically" give me a metal lever with a nice satisfyin clunk.

even worse is flappy paddles. speed=/=fun.

Manual, it's a no-brainer! But then again, I'm English so I guessed I am biased (Manual is the norm for us). I HATE Auto boxes.

That said, I have not yet driven the dual clutch boxes. I need a test drive in one before I can pass judgement. I still don't think I'll like not having manual clutch control though.

Oh and don't be fooled by the 'manumatics' they are simply slow auto boxes that you can control manually.

i've had both 2 manual's and 2 auto's.. blew up one automatic and both my manual's ran fine other than 1 bell housing cracked and the other one i crashed the truck.
i'll take a manual over an auto anyday on the street, if im gonna be wheeling it in some mud and tough trails i want an auto. too hard the clutch offroad unless im on a logging road.

Yes I autocrossed the car. Just had to change the wheels and tires.
Was it the best no but fun.
As for snow thats what the truck is for.

I know this, I like autos and manuals.

For a steet cruiser I would want a auto, for a street beast I would want a manual.

In light to light I had a built c-6 that was bomb proof and fast.
But I prefer to be able to "lug" around at like 1rpm in 5th gear.....
easier to light em up and do 360's, being able to down shift 1-2 gears coming onto a hard corner, ect.

Its all dependent on the driver and their wants and needs.

I'll also tell you this, I have NEVER had a manual lay down on me, I have had a
main throw oil on my clutch once, and I have had to replace clutches, but they never went out on me on the road..

I have had multiple autos fail me, both ford and chevy...never had a dodge auto fail me yet, but I have had one begin to slip.

Yeah that's how my car is set up mainly for cornering stuff, but it will be seeing the short straights this summer. Can't be the best at one thing and have fun at all 3 unless you make lots of compromises.

Just because that scumbag Slave hates autos, they get my vote."thumbsup"

Typical GOP response.
