just want to get everyone thoughts and opinions on the matter (if this thread is considered inappropriate for the forums mods please feel free to delete it).

In my opinion, i think it should have been legalized 100% along time ago. For one science has proven that it has no lasting affects and that its not physically addicting, in addition to this it has an almost unlimited amount of uses, for example it can be used for cancer patients who have undergone khemotherapy with the pain involved, it can also help with eating disorders as wells as sleep deprivision, the stem of the marijuana plant can be used for clothing as well as an alterate fuel source instead of oil. In fact the only negative affect could be the price. When you really think about it cigarettes and alcohol are both more additing then pot but yet they are both legal and pot isnt, so wat is it about pot tht makes people think it need to be illegal. lets look at some statistics in amsterdamn its not technically legal, its just not as illegal as in the u.s and in peru its completely legal, now look at those countries crime rates compared to ours they are significantly lower, Not to mention legalization will take away the criminal elemant of it, think about it this way if you are going to buy your pot, your not going to go to a illegal dealer that sells a lesser amount for more money when you could get more for less money from a government controlled dispensery. Plus all the profit that dispencery makes goes into the governments pocket. As well legalization will lower the ammount of illegal smuggling across our borders....

as i said this is my opinion and i cant speak for anyone else but i can say that i am backing the legalization 100%

....it is legal,I have a perscription "thumbsup"
you can buy hemp rope and clothing from the perscription growers aswell as local grown hemp seed crap at the health food store.

Your average joe is still against the law but the charges here in canada are laughable

A lot of worse things are already completely legal. I don't feel strongly enough either way to put much energy into the fight, but if it were to ever come to a vote, I would be for legalizing it.

I won't smoke, but I don't care if you do as long as it doesn't effect me.

I feel since alcahol is legal, so should marijuana. Alcahol is much more harmfull both physically, and mentally, and its effects impare the average person much worse than marijuana. I am not saying driving high is ok, but I would rather see someone driving stoned than drunk, alcahol is a violent and dangerous substance, and it is heavily engrained in our culture. I like alcahol too, but if I had to pick one, alcahol would loose pretty handily.

The taxation of marijuana could bring our country out of debt."thumbsup" c'mon Uncle Sam, I want to buy doobies over the counter.

Aren't you like, 15? WTF are you doing being worried about the legalization of weed? Get an education and save that shit for later.

I would encourage anyone, even remotely interested in ending the absolutely absurd 74 year old waste of time and money, to write these congressman and encourage them to press forward with this legislation.

Congressman Ron Paul:

Congressman Barney Frank:

I would also encourage anyone interested to write thier local elected officals as well, and voice your support.

And for any of you naysayers, sit back and have yourself a "legal/taxed" beer or three while you ponder any actual differences for why alcohol is legal but THC is not.

It will all get you eventually, if you enjoy the smoke, smoke... if you don't then don't....
