Mars Rover touchdown August 8, 2012

If you compare raw figures that matter GDP based. Obama is doing better than Bush did based on % change since taking office.

Not taking either side here, but posting facts not propaganda.

Shame on you. You aren't supposed to debate things that you can back up with facts.

Oh, hey, look at that. According to that chart, RR raised the national debt 189%.

On topic, this is good news landing on Mars.

Yes it is. "thumbsup"

So lets get a few things straight here, the entire curiosity mission cost 2.5 billion dollars, not 100 billion.

Second they didn't just load 2.5 billion dollars cash and fire it into space never to be seen or heard from again. They spent it hiring people who engineer and design the equipment, mine the resources required to construct and fabricate it. all sorts of shit yeah? all those people then use the money they made off this in their own local economies.. it goes a long way man.

that doesn't even include how the spinoff technologies from which we are currently, and will continue to benefit from in this quest for knowledge.

if you wanted to cut waste spending from which you see no benefits how bout oil subsidies? how bout going after the ****s with their massive amounts of wealth sheltered illegally in off shore tax havens?

How about cutting off ALL aid given to foreign countries? Not giving money to countries that HATE ours would save us a lot of money...

Back on track: is anyone else disappointed in the lack of photos from Curiosity? I think I've only found 3 or 4. None are terribly interesting.

its doing tests to make sure everything is operational and nothing got damaged during delivery.

its going to take a few weeks before it will move about doing science stuff.

From what I gather they have not taken/released any of the main camera pics. What has been shown is coming from the anti-collision cameras, fancy rear/side view cameras.
This stuff interests me. Looking forward to some hi-res color stuff.
