Military/Civilian Bush Wacker???

Well since the past few months I've been gathering up parts that I've needed, and working as much as possible in my freetime aside from school and work to create what I would consider one of my best rigs yet. It all started when I first got my K2-3S(one of the origional hand cut ones) from Keatwo at http://www.reignrc.com/index.html and found out about the new machined K2-3L. So I decided to buy one of the new blem one's not knowing what to expect. I choose the blem, so it would give me something to tinker with while I waited for the rest of the parts and figured out what I was going to do with it. Expecting some sort of notches taken out or holes missing from the blem I was shocked to see that the only thing wrong with the frame was a few minor machining scratches on the frame rails and a mis-drilled hole in one of the cross-members. Thinking that it would be an easy fix and cover up I had the whole frame cleaned up and put together in less than an hour from start to finish. Now it was time to start the buildup. I decided since I loved the FJ40 body I owned that I would shoot for a new BushWhacker re-make and use that body for the base of the rig. As well since the Highlift tires are such a nice looking tire and good performer I decided as well to go with a set of those. All in all, I eventually collected the parts and knowledge of how I wanted my truck to look and perform, yet still keep it's scale appearance to complete "PHASE 1" of the Bush Whacker remix. Now onto the pics to describe in better detail of what my truck is starting to come together to look like."thumbsup"

That's awesome! That's pretty close to my setup too. Do you have any body off pics? I need to figure out how to mount my bumpers!

Seems like if you raised up the suspension a little bit you could drop the body more and you wouldn't see as much of the chassis.

I dunno about the chrome wheels, but that can be easily fixed "thumbsup" I agree, it looks like if you raised the suspension some, you could lower the body a little bit more, which brings me to my next point, what color is that :?:

03durtymax- The frame fit the perfect length of the body, so I drilled 4 holes in the derlin cross-braces and just used screws to screw the bumpers directly on.

USATorgue55- That is comming in "PHASE 2" of the truck. The rear shocks will be turned down tlt shocks with internal springs, but I have to wait to get them till saturday. I'm also going to make fender wells so that it looks more scale than only the frame.

1BadJeepBruiser- The crhome wheels are just temporary(and look better than the stock touareg's I had on there) until Ben and MSD come out with the new 1.9 beadlocks. I've got my fingers crossed for a set soon and at the usual great price. The color is also Model Master FS34087 Olive Drab, and the fenders are just Flat Black primer.

Thanks for the compliments guys, and I'll try to get a little more done during this week with setting up the suspension so you don't see as much of the frame.

Looks real nice. "thumbsup" I agree with what the others said, to raise it up a bit, then lower the body. It will perform better too.

is that paint made for lexan bodys? if it is im gettin that color.

No, It's not made for lexan specifically, but it will work just as good if not better in my opinion. I hate it when I tell people at the shop that I'm going to paint it on lexan and they tell me it will just flake off, when that is all I will use now, since it will adhere itself to the body better than the lexan paint does. I think it actually gets penetration into the body, and sticks rather than just sitting on the body and flaking off. Just what I think any ways.

Update

Ok, so it took longer for me to finish this thing up than I had origionally planned, but it is pretty close to finished. I added a few (15) lights to the truck, changed the suspension, and refabed the front end along with new wheels for it. Enough of the chit chat and on with the pics.

Thats all I have for now, but I'm trying to figure out if I want to keep it and not really run it, or sell it/ trade it for another rig. I have too much time and money into this to run it and tear it up. LMK what you think and hopefully I can think of what I want to add or do with it."thumbsup"

Yea I got the same duma$$ comment this weekend when I went and got some Tamiya TS Light Sand to spray on my LAV. "You know that's not for Lexan, it's gonna flake off." What TF ever, the stuff adhered perfectly and I've run it a little and hit some things and it hadn't even scratched it, so f 'em...if it works it works!!! Well, the truck looks killer and I'm a finatic when it comes to military rigs, like the paint!!! It also sits alot better with the adjustments too!
