Mini Giant Bronko Crawler

Great looking build, the first custom build I ever did was to convert a VMG to a crawler. Yours looks and performs better than mine ever did, mine is now a scale Unimog. After seeing yours I kinda miss mine now but there is now going back.

Beers and Bronko

Clint stopped by last night for a few beers and to try the Bronko out on the basement course. That incline is about 40 degrees.......yes we measured it:

Mmmmm.......beer.

Poor little Bronko sure took a beating. Super fun to drive and Still going strong though.

Thanks for taking the time to film a successful run. Thanks for posting all the failures too :flipoff:

40 degrees on the low side, more like 50 by the wall, right? Way off camber toward the side I keep slipping off of.

Here is a pic of my Losi mini coming down the same slope, since that camera angle doesn't give much perspective:

Yep, those are the stock wheels and tires from a Losi Mini Crawler.

I am using some slightly modified Trinity TC Wheel Adapters to mount the Losi 12mm hex wheels to the VMG axles. I found them at the LHS and so far they are the only thing that I have had to purchase for this build. I just had to bore out the center hole a bit, and drill and tap them for a set screw. I could have also drilled the axle for a pin, as you can see the hex has a slot for it. I chose to go the set screw route because it was easier for me. The finished adapters look like this:

man I wish I could find those!! I just drilled mine out and used mini Revo pins and hexes!! worked like a charm! 12mm and good2go! so Im wondering how you made the drivelines?? im building one now but using a tub chassis, very different but should be pretty cool!! Im trying to use mini LST dog bone drivelines but I need to grind them down a bit to fit but mine has the same WB as the LST so they might work but Im stuck on what to do about the outputs on axles and trans...any info?? thnx!!

nice rig too!

Thanks.

I scored those hexes a while back at my LHS. Happened to be exactly what I was looking for at the time, though I ended up modifying the original wheels and using the stock hexes too. Your method sounds pretty easy too, nice work "thumbsup"

I didn't want to have to mess with the outputs on the axles and trans so I just cut the stock dog bones in half and extended them with various bits of tubing and some 30 minute epoxy. I wasn't certain about the strength back then, but my kids and I have been beating it up for a long time now without issues. Make sure you use some rough sand paper to scuff-up the bit of dogbone that gets epoxied, so it can get some "grip". Here is what I did:

Good luck "thumbsup"
