mini SUMMIT

I just wanna know how this is a mini summit? No 2 speed tranny, no locking diffs, isn't that what make a summit a summit instead of an e revo with a scaleish body?

Ditto that ^^

I was hoping for something a little more. It's brushless, so it won't crawl. No locking diffs, no low range, not even lights...? Come on Traxxas, I love my Summit, I just wish you guys would listen.

i wonder if some 2.2 rock crawling tires would look scale on it. im going to try to get my hands on one i dont have a lot of money to spend on these things, but this thing looks awesome

manually locking the diffs wouldn't be hard but the lack of low speed will kill it. at least they could have thrown in a second steering servo with those large tires:roll:

All of the new minis are pretty much the same platform, they are just changing the wheels, bodies, and shocks.

First it was the Traxxas Rally which is just an onroad mini slash....now you got a Mini Summit looks like it's based of the mini erevo...

Is this because everyone is following suit with Losi and scaling things down?

I have a set of 1.9 chisels on axial beadlocks I run in the winter time on my Merv. this spring I geared it way down so it wouldn't over run the tires. it was kinda fun hopping around on some rocks, but the suspension had no articulation at all. maybe with the LT suspension it would work out. Could put a nice brushed motor and have a real sweet(water proof) trail machine

What about its high center of gravity? My merv is already way too rollover-prone. The mini summit looks awesome, but with longer suspension travel & taller tires I'm fearing entering tumble city. Maybe set it up with serious droop?

I agree ,Traxxas dropped the ball on this one...a 2 speed would have been great and lockers would have put it over the top....why not just pick up a used MERV and throw a Summit body on it?...bummer

I looked at there new stuff at iHobby and I don't know how anyone can say it is a fail. They didn't claim the mini Summit to be a crawler, it is just a mini 4WD RC with a cool body. They will sell a shit load of them.

Traxxas brought RC to the masses with their Maxx's, made then cheap with their Stampeded and Rustler and with their minis, pulled the "toy" rc market and "Hobby" RC market together.

The new 4X4 Stampede is awsome, runs like hell and is going to be a big winner on the low end monster truck scene. Their new rallys are cool as hell and fast, I have told my LHS to order me 2 pedes and 2 BL rallys as soon as they can. be fun for me and the wife in the street and front yeard right through the winter. I always keep a couple Traxxas around just for fun, but I prefer the full size. The rallys actually look like a 1/12 scale so i will buy two of them.

These do look pretty cool, I might have to get one for my nephew (7 year old). That way he can go have fun with me while I'm crawling without being limited to going 5mph...

yeah EPIC FAIL on traxxas part. It needed to have gotten the 2 speed transmission and locking diffs, to really make it a mini summit.
