motor burning problem

I have a problem with my scx10 burning or releasing smoke from the motor. I just installed a second TEKIN 35T on the stock Axial ESC. Not even a third run and it toasted. Vehicle runs strong and about 30 mins into the run it looses power. I kept giving it throttle and then the 35T blew smoke. I noticed too that it runs kinda hot, but don't know if that may be normal. Can ESC settings have anything to do with this? Also, I'm using Gens Ace 2s lipos.

any help is appreciated - thanks fellas

I would say that you probably have a bind in your drivetrain somewhere or your gearing is too high. I think you are overheating the motor, can you keep your finger on it or is it too hot?

+1, drivetrain binding or overgeared. I vote for overgeared which is smoking your motors.;-)

yeah, it's too hot to leave my finger on it. how can i lower my gearing? everything is factory from axial...except the Tekin 35T. RTR out of the box i belileve it had a 27T. Also, I have my dragbrake at 50% and the tires lock even when descending. There is some roll resistance when the throttle is in neutral.
